Unless you are completely sold on either of the current limited characters, I recommend just saving in patch 1.0.
1.0 banners will be the first to rerun, and the practice of saving will form a better habit than starting off your time with the game visiting the gacha everytime you can.

In addition, the 'shiny new toy' effect is real. Let the base characters satisfy that urge during 1.0. Then once a brand new character is drip marketed that you really want, you can guarantee a copy of them.

I perfectly understand your stated point of view, I did the same on HSR with Ruan Mei, I'm not really a fan of the character but I played a lot around the break gameplay, so I pulled her to improve the gameplay, and now that a meta is in place with Firefly and the MC around the break, I am very happy to have her, even if I don't like her too much even today...

Definitely advice I couldve used when starting star rail, I ended up using all my starting pulls on characters that just don't work that well together just bc I liked them 😭😭

As someone who used to pull for every single character, I can confirm going for every character that you like the look of, is a bad, bad idea. For many reasons, but for me personally, in the past whenever I liked the look of a character, pulled for them, then next half of the patch came out, liked the character, pulled for them, and very quickly my money and pulls were gone.
It’s so hard. So hard to skip characters you like the look of - it’s something I’m struggling with till this day.

I totally understand yes. Especially early game!!!! Go for who helps you get through the content as a starter, then pull whoever you like. I pulled Jing Yuan in hsr not because i loved him, but I needed a dps to do the job after losing on seele's banner. Now one year later, I can clear almost all content simply by having pulled a mix of characters I love (Kafka, Black swan, Acheron, upcoming Jade & Jiaoqui) and characters that improve my account (Huo huo & aventurine). Now ofcourse pulling sparkle or ruan mei would add more to my acc than Jade, but since I'm already late game with easy clears up until at least moc 11 etc (last floors are a gamble lmao), I 100% go for characters I love.

I do have a friend that only pulled for characters they liked from the start... They can't even pass the story bosses now.

This is very true u guys. I came from genshin impact, and i did it myself, pull my favorite character Raiden shogun 1st then build my team around her, it was super fun. You guys should do the same here, pull your favorite character 1st, then pull for the 2 best characters that will best synergize and support that character!

This is a good advice because honestly even if you don't have a good support character for your favorite character then your gameplay will be so doomed and end up made you bored at the game way more.
Welp rn i got pretty lucky with Ellen (20 pity :D), ngl i love her so much and by far no one can caught my attention now.

Guess it really depends on how balls deep you wanna get in the endgame stuff.

I already do a ton of min maxing on Genshin, HSR, and Wuwa. I dont think I wanna stress over min maxing on another gacha which is why I'm gonna go the casual route.

Of course you'll get more pulls when you clear hard content. But it's usually not a lot.

Chose your absolute favourites and pick up their supports. I'm pulling Ellen because I really like her and i pulled Lycaon so i got a team for her to shine.

Its a more perspective or personal goal, your vid is really good explaining and what u explain are for 'endgame' player who want finish content, do endgame content and etc while still using their favorites.

While people who are very casual or dont care with endgame and only play for waifu, now this is people who just pull who u like

Most F2P players don't really care about the endgame, more precisely about MoC 11-12 or Pure Fiction 3-4, etc. Most regular "players" will only play the story content and events, and they don't care much more. They have fun for a few minutes a day, I would be very surprised if future story chapters could not be played with only A agents with a finger in their nose :D
So, for most players, it's pretty good advice, just pull whatever character you like. The problem is more when I like each one :D
This advice isn't really that good for the minority of endgame players. Personally, I plan to focus only on one or two factions, I will ignore the rest, I don't care if I beat the top of the endgame, I will enjoy the story and the characters.
