there was a guy in my platoon who had his own cadence and it was so damn good, we allowed him to song it, and the entire battalion adopted it. it was called Lowrider, and tbh if this comment gets enough interest i will share it

1993 Fort Benning E Co 1st/38th Drill Sergeant Harshburger with his "Hump-di-dumpty" twist with "Merry Men are We" cadence. Drill Sergeant Blake's twist on the Queen of Battle. Both of which will get you in trouble today. They put their whole heart n soul into those cadence's.

Had a PG in AIT who was from the south and sang in a church choir before enlisting. He made very cadence sound amazing.

My DS SSG Shattuck, dude could motivate you to the end of the world and back with his cadences about killing the enemy. We were pogs but he was infantry.

Had a drill instructor that did the simple "left-right" cadence to the Adam's Family theme...

There's this moment during training when the instructors have agreed their cycle is ready and while out marching from one place to another one if them will just start and you're expected to pick it up like it's always been a thing.

I went through Airforce basic after high school and this is what happened, my husband described his first cadence experience to me, same thing. You're supper happy and it feels like you've turned a new chapter in training but it flows so naturally and you and the soldiers around you just fall in step so to speak.

But going through Army basic, coming back from something, headed to the barracks later after sundown, our drill instructor leading the company back started up and there was this thick, pregnant pause. Even over our footsteps echoing between the buildings late at night with no one else outside to witness it, you could hear a pin drop.

His voice was clear, strong, and absolutely gorgeous. It wasn't that we didn't know what to, do but no one wanted to stop the echo of his voice from traveling by responding and echoing what he had just called... So we waited for it to leave like the wake of an angel, undisturbed into the night.

Of course this was the wrong answer and he threatened to tell the other drill sergeants we weren't ready for cadences. And voices rose from the formation, no military bearing, to protest as if a sweetheart of theirs was leaving in a huff.

After quickly getting everyone back in step, telling us that we respond to "privates" with "drill sergeant"...

He tried again.

" PRIVATES"

"(DRILL SERGEANT)"

"PRIVATES"

("DRILL SERGEANT ")

"WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE ME ALONE?"

("WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE ME ALONE?")

Not my favorite cadence, I prefer Yellow Ribbon. But it's my favorite memory of a cadence by far.

The weapons cadence had to have been my favorite, the shouts of war and kill are something else

My favorite as simply called Air Force Cadence but it also worked in stuff with the flight stomping or dragging their feet at specific points that really heightened it and got the good feel goin

This female in the 900 (music) division at Navy boot camp had an angelic voice. She made 1, 2, 3, 4 sound like a #1 chart topping song. It was always a good day when their division rolled by.
