What Poppy Playtime Hides Off Camera from the Player

Today we're hacking Poppy Playtime to show all the developer tricks that were used off camera to hide Huggy Wuggy. How does that big vent chase work, for example? What if I told you there's a lot of stuff hidden out of bounds for us to see? Let's take a look in this Chapter 1 sequence break!

huggy is scarily organic. it’s been revealed that he has working organs and a full digestive tract by the devs. But it’d be funny to see huggy wuggy eating a happy meal when the player isn’t supposed to notice

Interesting facts:
1. Huggy can be seen following the player with his eyes only at one of the vents when venturing outside the factory
2. When you see Huggy after falling down you can clearly see where he hit his head cuz there's blood there.
3. There's a room that we never see in the game (so far) but can see when venturing outside the game around the factory where we see huggy for the 1st time

in trailer 1 for the game, there are flashes of huggy walking towards you. he seems to be walking down that same corridor he comes out of when hes revealed to you in the game (the area between the make a friend room and the lobby). thought that was a nice touch. Also the playtime co sign is modelled because originally you would have pulled up in a car outside the factory and walked in. there is an unused map in the files with a parking lot and entrance, and theres a model for a car in the files also lol.

Fun Fact: Huggy is probably just a pissed factory worker done dirty by his bosses and a few scientists.

There’s actually a theory that Huggy is on our(the players) side, since he only really attacks when we get NEAR Poppy. Its a possibility that poppy is evil, and is controlling all the toys in the factory, and Huggy knew this and tried to keep us “safe.” Remember the writing on the flower around the door? Like ‘run’ and ‘help, ’ its told to have been the employees, but if they were running, they wouldn’t have time to write that, so maybe Huggy Wiggy did as a kind of warning to stay away from Poppy because she is dangerous.

It's kinda cool to see how they use simple tricks to create spooky effects. Reminds me a lot of how practical effects specialists have done it for movies for decades and decades.

3:23 thats how huggy actually kills you, by giving you a really tight hug, or a 'tight squeeze', which is the name of the first chapter, I think the devs put that in the title so you get ahint of whats coming, its subtle but works
