Time for my initial thoughts on the Tronxy X3. not the most friendly of 3D Printers in terms of kits. But ultimately it does print and it does it well.

Please consider using the following links to make your online purchases for filament or 3d printing accessories, it will not cost you anything extra but will go a long way to help support this channel.

I just bought this printer as my first printer. it should arrive around the middle of the month. thank you for your honest and open thoughts. I'm pretty mechanically minded so it shouldn't be too bad.

The cable management in this printer is 100X better than in the printer I have, it is real disaster!
I was thinking second printer, glad I saw your review!
Good work

Started assembling mine last night. The X wobble is easy to solve by just holding the wheels tightly against the rail while tightening things up. I have zero play. I suspect Y is the same. I too noticed the tendency for the screws to pull though the cast aluminium supports so used M4 washers. Planning on split loom for the wiring mess. And it definitely pays to read the instructions fully before beginning as well as watching the assembly video (included on the USB key with my kit).

You don't need a heat bed mosfet, just upgrade the wire from the PS to the Melzi to 10 gauge stranded. I've been printing for months with no issues. The wires stay cool to the touch.

This was my first printer. I thought it printed very well not knowing what i was doing. I did burn out the heat bed on the board. I put a mks board in it and made it self leveling. I use it all the time.

Hi Noob Im just waiting for the tronxy x5s to arrive but i believe it comes with a good online assembly manual and its structure is a built in a cube arrangement so i hope it will be more rigid and less hassle to set up

Thanks for the video. Always good to hear your thoughts on the various printers, even if I am unlikely to ever purchase them.

In unrelated news I have put an order in for an Ultibots D300VS, the lead time is about 3 weeks but I am excited for it to get here. I've heard good things about it from those who've purchased it, can't wait.

awesome video. Thank xou for not just putting it aside after all those hurdles and realy annoying things. very surprised at the quality. I guess with knowing the flaws beforehand and having some improvement options ( possibly presented by you), this printer would be an awesome cheap option. Have a great day

I have the same printer, and many of the same problems.

The build was incredibly long and annoying.

I've fried the melzi board. replaced it with ramps.
Still in the process of setting it up/calibrating.

I just started my build tonight.. The Y wobble is definitely an assembly issue. Mine has 0 but it could have heaps if done wrong.

Im going to make a youtube video my self about this construction issue

Great job Joe! Making lemonade with lemons.

Oh my Joe, what a nightmare this printer was for you! Even though the prints had some good aspects, all that extra calibrating and adjusting is just too much to deal with. Not even for such a low price, I would avoid this printer. Thanks for sharing this and helping others avoid this printer entirely. There are better printers out there with less hassle.

I am new so not for me. Is the filament sensor a critical feature in deciding a 3d printer. What is the cheapest printer with filament sensor. Tq.

Was going to buy one from HobbyKing, as my first 3D thanks for your honesty. I'll keep looking around for a suitable entry to the arena.

I'm already thinking of converting this to a Hypercube XY as soon as Ive used it to print a few sets of Parts. Then I'll have 2 brilliant stable high speed printers with rock solid build plate stability and none of the drawbacks of this format.

That vertigo grey looks spectacular.. wish I could get that in the US. $50 just for shipping.. ugh.

what retraction settings are you using? trying to get mine dialed in. also, I did the bed upgrade on thingiverse, no more build area wobble.

Good work Joe. Not impressed with the printer at all.
But the Vertigo Grey filament looks awesome, I think that may be why the prints look as good as they do.
