That's like the Pope saying that he no longer is the head of the Roman Catholic church because he will defend all faiths equally, no chance of that ! I think Charles is too sensitive and soft hearted and is liable to be walked over . The crowning of a British monarch is a SPIRITUAL, solemn occasion, it should ONLY represent Christianity, it is it's heritage and foundation. I think it is being misunderstood that he is still the head of the Church of England but he will open up to welcome other Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, etc. beliefs. Let's remember that Ireland is the problem that they have that they are Catholics so they are welcome in the commonwealth, there is no difference because there are differences in Faith, while there is a positive Faith because there is every church invented that is true.
