'God Save the King' Plays for the First Time as Charles wears Imperial State Crown

The King appears wearing the Imperial State Crown as his Coronation ceremony concludes.

Seeing the other royals bow started to hit me. Makes you realize how long the institution has endured, and the reverence people give to King in their presence.

I was at Hampton Court Palace at a memorial service for the Queen a few days after her passing. I'm probably one of the first Americans to hear a live rendition of "God Save the King" for King Charles and I even got to sing along. The lady next to me was in tears during the anthem and told me that it was the first time she had sung the words in over 70 years. It was an incredibly moving experience.

I absolutely love the anthem and especially the fanfare at the beginning. It really brings out the grandeur of this country’s anthem. The whole ceremony was brilliant and I’m so glad I had the day off to watch it properly. This is what the UK is famous for, it’s royalty, Pageantry, traditions that are hundreds of years old and still in 2023, we can enjoy such a momentous occasion in our true Great British style and ways. I cried. That man has been villified his entire life by public and press. I felt the best summary of his character was from the lady talking about The Princes Trust - she was absolutely right regarding his forward thinking mindset.
