High Bar vs Low Bar Squats For Building Muscle

Today we are going over the the low bar vs high bar squat!

I wanted to make this video because over the past year I checked my ego at the door and started adding low bar squats to my routine. For the first ten years of my lifting career all I did was high bar squats and I bet I'm not the only one who thought high bar was a better bodybuilding lift.

The reason i subbed is coz your vids are short and you get straight to the point

Couldn’t agree more to doing both; if I just train high bar, my mobility improves but it’s rough to keep increasing the weight and, over a few months of consistency, my knees start to get a little more tender. With low bar, I can increase the weight each session with virtually zero issues, but over the longer period, my mobility slightly diminishes. Doing both, I get the best of both worlds. I also program in front squats on occasion but I do this more to improve thoracic extension and to help prevent overuse injuries. Great video 👍

Less than 5 minutes. Straight to the point. Good advice. Precise. Short but very well explained, guy seems very humble too which make him more likeable. Found the channel yesterday, already binge watched all of the videos. Subbed and all notifications on. If this anyone watching this guy first time, check the rest, worth it.

Can you do a video on mobility and flexibility? Your ability to go that low on a squat is impressive

This works. I'm 59 and did squats the "normal" way. I researched some power lifting vids and tried the lower bar squats and I hit my goal of 400 lbs that day ( with no belt). I was stuck at 360 lbs for about a month. I felt like I cheated. It was still an effort but easier.

It does fill like a leg press. I will do as suggested and do the higher bar squats as well. Have a great day at the gym today .

I honestly see Olympic style squats are great. I've seen those type of athletes doing more weight high bar squats than I do low bar. I guess they're training regime is different from what I'm use to. Thanks for posting this man.

That squat was so deep it left a skidmark on the floor. You resemble Dorian Yates a bit.
