What is the future for nuclear power in Britain?

The government is getting ready to announce its new energy strategy this week, and it's expected to include a big increase in nuclear power generation.

The nuclear route offers seemingly endless power coupled with extremely low carbon dioxide emissions just as new sources of cheap energy are urgently required, as people's finances are badly affected by the rise in the price of gas.

the knee jerk reaction to Fukashima and climate change hysteria has now made global energy prices double or even triple in some regions. so called renewable energy has never been reliable or efficient enough to sustain any developed nation by itself nor will it ever. the economics of windmills and solar panels do not work. Natural gas, nuclear, and hydro electric are far more reliable and produce much more electricity at a cheaper overall cost, especially geo strategic costs.

Why would I want a private funded power plant? Why is the inherent cost cutting of capitalism something to brag about?? new reactors are pretty safe compared to the 1980 designs still in use in other countries

All the politicians i see base their knowledge of Nuclear on the ancient technology from the 80's. Some of the reactors used in France can reuse Nuclear waste. With rising electricity costs and mass adoption of EV's our infrastructure needs Nuclear & Hydrogen investment asap!

I personally don't know much about this but if something helps improve Britain I support it whether it's this nuclear power or fossil fuels or anything in-between
