Description:

Every day, people strap on about 50 pounds of deep-sea diving gear just to take a plunge underwater to see what nature has in store. Most of those trips go perfectly well, but every now and again something super creepy is spotted! Like, one of the ugliest sharks you’ll ever see! Or live bombs that’ve been underwater for over 70 years! Those are just a couple of examples of what we have in store today, where we present to you the 7 Most Chilling Things Ever Found by Deep Sea Divers!

He actually asked if that guy might still be alive. This guy is going places!

Techically, the corpse wasn't mummified -- it was saponified. Mummification takes place when moisture is removed from the body, either naturally or deliberately. Saponification occurs when, under certain conditions, anaerobic bacteria react to the corpse's body fat, turning it into adiposcere or grave wax.

Damn, I knew those forensic classes I took would come in handy some day. I just never thought it would take almost 40 years and the invention of an entirely new form of communication, that's all.

8:14 - boy, you're sure gonna be even more upset once you find out that shipwrecks are usually left on the sea floor

When they put a good photo for their video just to catch your eye only to find out they don’t even bring it up at all and it ends up disappointing you.

Alright let's explain each one here, but properly:
7: that is indeed a video of a giant squid. Technically, a giant squid could eat you, but it would probably either have to be in water so deep you'd die as your lungs collapsed or in water so shallow the squid would die as it's nervous system failed. The second photo on the California beach is clearly photoshopped, and is probably a normal squid overlayed on a photo of a beached whale
6.5: That isn't a drowned body, and you can't be mummified underwater like that regardless. If you find a higher resolution photo the body's shirt reads: "underwater rescue unit". It's a photo of an underwater body retrieval training exercise.
6, 5, 4, 3: All of these don't require much explanation, they're pretty much as advertised.
2: That is some kind of decaying cetacean (dolphin or whale), it looks especially similar to the famous "SCP-682" image, which turned out to be a decaying beluga whale. Given the location, this is probably just a common bottlenose dolphin, but it's kind of crazy how different some animals look after decaying.
1: The image given here looks like four native otters swimming together (they often swim in rows to lower water resistance). The general ogopogo story, much like Nessie it too long to repeat here, though no surprises there's a distinct lack of concrete non-blurry, non-hoax evidence.

As a technical diver who has recovered many dead people after being underwater I can call complete and utter BS on the diving corpse. human bodies do not last very long under water and they certainly do not mummify that's for sure

Thanks for putting a massive circle around the dead body being pulled out. I never would have notice that with a big red circle.

The "Lake Monster" looks amazingly like a string of car tyres forming a barrier in the water, fixed at one end to the post in the shallow water.
