I'm a staunch Protestant, but Thomism is a breath of fresh air in the secular, physicalist world of modern Western philosophy. Even though I don't always understand all the metaphysical concepts and terminology that Thomism employs, I still find it beautiful.

If a contingent cause is one that truly happens by chance and our choices are contingent causes, then it follows that our choices truly happen by chance. How can I be more morally responsible for a choice that reduces to chance than for one that was predetermined and could not have been otherwise?

This was a really strange way to say God is both in control of everything and yet nothing bad is His fault. That’s literally what I got from this.

If I am understanding this video correctly, this sounds like this is the view of process structuralism, where the finetuned laws of nature that God(per se causes) created lead to the contingent causes we see today and if the universe where to start over again we would see the same result because of the natural laws created and finetuned by God. Is this your viewpoint?

Did God know the end result of the meeting at the store? If not, how is this any different than something like open theism (God of the possible), or molinism (middle knowledge)?
