There's a 2 step solve for this where you simply use a spin to get the inner pieces to the edges, then roll it to release them.
Totally agreed, level 3 tops.
Great vid Mr.P, nice to see more hanayama.

It looks like you've found a non-intended solution for this puzzle. Looking at the insides, it seems that your remark at 4:00 was right - you actually need to rotate those parts in opposite directions from a certain position to separate them, twisting them with one finger from each side (that's what the indentation in the center of each one is for - to place your fingers there), which should be pretty tricky, and give the whole puzzle a horizontal spin.

For me, Hanayama have make a big mistake by putting photos of the disassemble puzzle on the box.
I have lend my puzzle to a lot of my friends and all of them have believed that the inner pieces was in only one part.
And each of them have had a nice "Haha" moment when they have spin it !
Without the photos it can be a 4 for a non-puzzler...

@6:10 They Cyclonic motion caused it to part.. wow.. that's cool😀Props for the unique mechanism, but they should have intigrated with a few other sequences or something liek that to mke it a bit more then a one trick pony...

Given a puzzle solver as experienced as you and a puzzle with so few degrees of freedom, you were bound to find the solution quickly.

How heckin awesome do you gotta be to design puzzles?

Rhetorical question. Answer is all the way awesome.

There's a hint right next to the tube name. I'm pretty sure that the intented solution is to separate two pieces and then roll it the way that the arrow points. It doesn't work when you roll it the wrong way. So it's not supposed to work shaking the puzzle. I solved this with the hint and I enjoyed the puzzle very much.

It was a level 5, UNTIL you know how it works. But I’m not great at these. I still can’t do the Hanayama UFO even with instructions and videos🙄. Great video as usual!

Btw. I haven't managed to solve the Trinity after years of trying, even your video didn't help somehow 😂

As another commenter has already noted, a spin is the quickest way to get the pieces to opposite ends.

So did you just put a circular peg in a square hole, or is it really as simple as it looked..? I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume you found an inadvertent solution but I already have a tube I can shake until something comes off in my hand..(sorry)

I rolled mine across the floor and it solves every time

The Hex Box looks like it has the same basic structure as the Venn puzzle.

Maybe the puzzle part of the "obvious" one is that whole "tricky" to reassemble part. Not all puzzles are about undoing.
Also why wasn't spinning it in different ways not one of your first thoughts?

I knew that was going to be an interlock puzzle rather than one with pins

Who's more clever, the puzzle maker or the puzzle solver, or are they about equal.
