Beginner Camera Test part II - How do the 9 cameras in our test perform in low light (High ISO)???

A very important aspect of any camera is how it performs when the light gets low, or extreme. In this second part of our beginner camera test, Wolf Amri tests which camera has the least noise at higher ISO and also which one has the bigger so-called dynamic range. The result will very likely surprise you.

Please help us create new videos by purchasing your camera from one of our affiliate links. The cameras in the test are:

SONY alpha 6000

CANON t7

CANON t7i

CANON M50

NIKON D5600

NIKON D3500

OLYMPUS E-M10III

FUJI X-T100

SONY a5100

SONY a7III

CANON 5D MkIII

Great job Wolf Amri! I truly love your methodical and clinical testing of the cameras. These are some of the very well thought tests of cameras I have seen. Such attention to detail is evident in all your videos. Kudos to your hard work to bring this to us in a very pleasant and easily understandable form. And yeah, I do look forward to Part III of the test series. Personally, I think it is a better way for viewers to judge a camera. This way we can make an informed decision based on data rather than being told by someone based on his or her personal taste and opinion. All my best wishes to you to keep up this great work.

Im glad you decided to post this video. It’s great to see a comparison between “beginners” cameras ISO low light performance. I want my next camera to perform better in low light!

Very sensible and good real world tests. I have a D3500 and really enjoy it. I thought I might have outgrown it sooner but not so far. There are features it does not have I would like such as tilting screen, bracketing and true remote capabilities instead of just the Nikon app.

Great comparison of these cameras, especially my Nikon D3500. I haven't really pushed the limits of the ISO to avoid the noise. Thanks for sharing.

Wow - where have you been my whole photographic life? I have learnt so much in just a few videos. Great channel. My EOS20D (yes 20D!) is showing its age. Do you have any intermediate camera tests, as your tests seem very thorough? Was thinking of the 90D kit with the 18-135mm lens. May be more than I need though, suspect I'm more interested in the lens!

Great video comparing so many entry level options. I was leaning towards the Nikon D3500 but now I am also considering D5600. I am extremely confused as right now the difference in price is only $70. While the specs are more or less the same, D3500 is a newer model but the D5600 has some minor added benefits like WiFi and articulated screen.

I have never seen a review with this simple and elaborate explanation on YouTube. Thanks a lot for that.
Again I want to ask you the same question in a different way.
After watching your video I can clearly see that the Nikon d3500 is a much better camera for landscape photography than Sony a6000. I have to select one of these two cameras primarily for Landscape photography (sometimes astrophotography through my telescope) and occasional bird or macro photography. Which one would you suggest ? It would mean a lot.
Also I am pretty good with Adobe Lightroom and often edit RAW images there so please factor that in your decision.
Again thanks for the wonderful reviews !!

I bought my t7i purely on the marketing info I got when I was trying to decide on what to get.. I soon realised that it wasn't all that was promised and it can't handle iso very well.. thanks for these videos.. very interesting
