I built this switchable video cable using wisdom obtained here:
and here:

The battery is necessary on my Samsung TV in order to force RGB mode. It may not be necessary on yours. I measured the current drain at 0.02A so the battery should last for a while! The switch disconnects the battery as well as selecting which composite video line to use - the 80 column monochrome one is used to sync the RGB video.

The only problem with the circuit used is that you end up with dark yellow instead of brown. Still, it is better than not having the 80 column video option at all, or being limited to 8 colours.

Loved the music! I'm trying to find out what the difference is between using the rgbi port and the video out port. can you give any input?
