#crochettutorial #miniskeinproject

*Please note that I am UK based and therefore use UK crochet terminology: a UK treble crochet is equivalent to a US double crochet.*

This is a tutorial for mini solid granny squares including how to join them as you go (so no sewing together!). Perfect for using up mini skeins, scraps and yarn leftovers. I am using various 4ply hand dyed yarn leftovers and a 3.5mm hook.

Happy crocheting!

I have crocheted for years and have never tried this joining technique. Thank you for taking the time to create such an easy to follow tutorial. I am going to use this to make my little granddaughter (2yo) an afghan for her little baby doll.🥰

I am an avid sock knitter (and crochet blanket maker) and I have a HUGE sock-yarn-leftover-stash. I've tried mitred squares to use it up but it just doesn't sit with me, I cant get into any kind of rhythm with it so I've just been hoarding my scraps. NOT ONCE have I thought about crocheting with it! DUH!! Talk about a face-palm moment. My scraps are mostly dark colours but who cares, it'll keep us cosy on the sofa. I seem to handle UK and US crochet terms quite well, my brain just switches into US-mode or UK-mode as appropriate but it is nice to hear the UK terms for sure. Thanks for the inspiration, I am also "hooked" ;-)

Although I know how to do only the basics in crochet and am really an avid knitter, I was really interested in your tutorial for the tiny granny square blanket! I have quite a few leftover bits of sock yarn and have been thinking of the best way to utilize every scrap. A granny square blanket has crossed my mind more than once, but when I saw the mini-granny squares that are joined as you go, I was “hooked!” (Yes, pun very much intended!). Thanks for the tutorial. 🤗

This is so clear, thank you. I rarely do granny squares because I detest sewing them together. This is inspiring! I have a lot of knitting worsted leftovers that I will now be crocheting into a join-as-you-go granny square blanket to keep in the car. Brilliant.

Thank you, Emma. Very nice tutorial. I love how your project looks. I know this will sound crazy, but sometimes I forget that the easiest way to use up your leftovers is in projects like this. Take care and I look forward to seeing other crochet projects from your channel. 🌼

A friend here in USA 🇺🇸 send me this and I love this idea. I’m indeed more inclined to attach it so it won’t show that swirling side but that’s my ocd brain 😅But I truly love this idea of the very small granny square for a baby blanket!

Very straight forward explanation, thank you. I'm making a granny square temperature blanket for 2024 so this join is ideal. Have credited you on my Ravelry page :)

Just found you on a 'short' and have subscribed. Love the join as you go technique. I have recently fallen in love with granny squares. For years I've turned my nose up at them, but there are so many beautiful works of art being taught using this old fashioned motif, I can't help but join in the fun!

Love the video but would like to say what a pleasure to hear some one using UK terms when in the Uk this is most unusual, thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I've got an overabundance of sock yarn and this is going to be on a hook later on today. I'm trying to get better at knitting but the comfort of this easy project will be wonderful when I'm frustrated with the needles! 😉 Thanks Emma x

Thank you for this video. A great way to use up small balls in my stash. I would also like to have a go at making a Battenburg blanket. Thanks again for such clear instructions.
