I decided to start doing micro crochet when I was 48, and stopped 7 seconds later when I discovered I couldn’t actually see well enough even with my varioficals.

This is what I used for edging hankies. It was the first crochet I ever learned from my great-grandma. We worked tiny pearls into the lace. When I switched to yarn it felt so thick and clunky. Of course, I can't see anything that size anymore.

The smallest hook I have ever used is 1.5mm and I need a lamp and a magnifying glass to do it!! It's very rare that I crochet so small, only when I want to make really detailed christmas ornaments. I applaud whoever can microcrochet all the time and have the patience for it 😩

I’ve been crocheting micro (mostly doilys) with crochet thread. But I’m using a size 10 thread and a 1.6mm hook! And it’s still tedious for me. I can’t imagine doing this:

I'm very sorry for Jake and Sarah. I've been in a very similar situation and it's so hard when you know someone is toxic AND they're in pain. You want to support them but you can't keep catching stray bullets forever. I ghosted a friend who displayed similar behaviour and I still feel awful about it but they were destroying my mental health.

I've also been the toxic friend (not to this extreme) but luckily getting out of bad relationships and nearly losing the good relationships pulled me out of the spiral.
