Job hunting in tech can be so hard. I saw so many postings wanting “at least 5 years experience” even though the job description itself listed out very basic skills🤦🏾‍♀️ These were amazing tips!!💛

work in tech without coding by using soft skills:
1. sales - demonstrate hardware/software to leads in person and at tradeshows
2. customer support/service - answering questions, reporting bugs - work with developers to fix bugs, testing, what enhancements are needed

3. test software/hardware
4. document - how to use product - written step-by-step instructions and youtube videos
5. social media manager
6. keep website content uptodate
7. manage customer info campaigns - emails, newsletters

once working for a company you can still keep learning to code without the pressure to make money

being inside a company you can see what the developers are doing - what tools are being used, languages, databases, - what opportunities are available - it can give direction to your own learning efforts

I just finished in bootcamp, and I still don't have enough 'proper' projects I can show off with. All this job hunting process is so overwhelming.
Thank you so much for this one, because it's really helpful and makes me think that I'm on the right way, no matter how hard it is!💖

Thank you so much for this info! You are the best, I just graduated this May 2021 with a bachelors in Computer information systems but I didn’t do any internships due to the fact that I have to work and pay for school, and internships were mostly during the day time and during work hours.

It is hard to find a job when you don’t have experience, and it’s frustrating because how you get the experience if company you are applying for doesn’t give a chance!

I’m glad I found you! I found your video very helpful and educational.

“…Not about formal education, but more so about how to show relevant skills to potential employers”. I relate to this a lot, as I am aiming to be developer for robotics, but have little foundation and experience in it. I find that it’s the interest, curiosity, perseverance that takes one far into their dream career. One step at a time, and what you’ve shared helps a lot!

I love these videos. Have you ever thought of having a live session where you can answer questions about the tech field?

I am so happy I found your channel. Just started a coding bootcamp a little bit over a month ago and I feel overwhelmed. Also started to get impostor syndrome! 😩

Many open-source projects are very convoluted and hard to get into. How about developing some open-source software yourself?

Hi Tiff, I recently found your channel and you inspired me to apply to bookcamp coding. I am currently a student at a community college for Digital: Animation and my plan was to transfer to a university but as I am an international student the cost is expensive. Also I feel that I should have graduated since I am 21 years old and I feel that animation is not my thing. I want to be software development but the truth is I don't want to go to a university and start over and spend 4 years studying. Now I am a person who depends on my parents and I told them about this program but they doubt the credibility. They don't know anything about the US educational system since they have never lived in the US, they think that all schools that are called “institute” are for technical level, and in my country a person who has technical level are those who receive bad payment. They think a degree in computer science will make more money and easy way to have a job than a person who graduates in coding bootcamps or institute even though I explained them that also institutes offers 4 years for bachelor degree, but they still think that I want a easy path to not study. I really do not want to spend time in pursuing a degree for 4 years. I want to find a job and work in what I want, and I am really worried about my parents financial issue. Since I am international student it will be difficult for me to find a job, but it isn’t impossible, . I am sure I can do it and obtain a green card, but I really want to be software developer. How do I change my parents mentality?? They are really ignorant about US education system, and they won’t support me. They want me to finish animation degree, but the university I want to transfer is really expensive.
What are the pros and cons for international student taking bookcamp coding?? I fear that I won’t have a job and disappoint my parents. My goal is to work at the U.S in a good company, I don’t want to return to my home country since employers aren’t well payed, and well treated.

Could you do a video where you recommend some of the online courses out there that are reputable?

I'm asking because I'm doing a boot camp now, but I'd love to sign up for a course after the boot camp so I can continue to expand my knowledge while I apply for jobs.
(Kind of a "hustle while you wait" situation)
