Video of the U.S. Coast Guard District 14 conducting a search and rescue exercise with the People's Republic of China's Maritime Safety Administration (MSA). The exercise took place off the coast of Oahu and involved the Chinese MSA vessel Haixun-31, the USCG Cutter Galveston Island, and helicopter crews from the Haixun-31 and Coast Guard Air Station Barber's Point. The two countries responded to rescue scenario in which a person was stranded in the water. The Chinese vessel dispatched a helicopter to search patterns, and then sent a small boat to bring the person back to the Haixun. The Coast Guard sent a helicopter to perform a medical evacuation. This was the Haixun-31's first visit to American waters. Available in high definition. Includes sound bites from Lt. Jonathan Rice and Xie Heoi.
