As an Indie Game Developer myself, I can confirm that working alone is better in terms of decision making. But working in a team is also helpful as you don't have to make yourself work 17 of 24 hours on a game making art, adding code, level design etc.

They also have to do a huge amount of bug testing and making sure that old worlds won’t break with the new update. Imagine if Mojang made an update that would corrupt a world you have been building for 5 years.
