Purging Our Sins through the Holy Spirit

I pray for you to have the veil of deception lifted by the Holy Spirit, which is the primary agent God uses to grow the people of God in his grace to refine and cleanse them from indwelling sin.

If you’re watching this video today, it’s not by chance. God wants to take you higher in Him, but you cannot go higher with dead weights attached to you. For this, you will have to get rid of the weights. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.”

Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Your flesh is dead to sin, the Holy Spirit convicts you "in your conscience" of sin, but if you do sin, you have an advocate, Christ Jesus, before the Father.
Your flesh is "self-righteous" and wants to do works but these works are as filthy rags to God.

Your flesh can do nothing to please the Father, it has already been done by the Son at the Cross.

Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Colossians 1: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And *he is the head of the body, the church* : who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

Just want to point out, I believe you have taken Hebrews 12:1 out of context (not because I know more than you, just want to show what I see) you must use the whole picture put before you here:

Hebrews
Chapter 12
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
*2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. *
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

You are not wrong about allowing God to do the work in you....it is the flesh wrestling with spirit, it's a constant battle until you have grown in faith enough to understand your flesh is dead.
We begin to realize we have a New Life in Christ Jesus, and for some it takes a lifetime, possibly never, to stop those sins that "so easily beset us" i.e. alcohol, pornography, drug addictions.
The flesh wants it, and there is the wicked spiritual realm that keeps reminding you of your past, trying to steal your joy in your New Life, destroy your testimony of Life in Christ, keep you weighted down.
This is the area of spiritual warfare. I am no expert, but have been learning for years since there are many false teachers, hirelings, and workers of iniquity who are thrown into most Christians' paths.
And it cannot be done in the flesh. It can only be done by fully relying on Jesus Christ and His finished
work at the cross. It always comes back to Jesus. It's not about what we can do, He has done it already.
He wants us to rest in Him, knowing that He hears our prayers. Sometimes mine are just "HELP LORD".

(sorry for the long post...God has been showing me things I never understood before, and it's not a
a copy and paste post, just my words with Scripture)
If you got this far, know that God is faithful, always. Philippians 1:4 take a look.
God bless you Wakeman, God's got you!!
