Imagine a purge in our era and a random infiltrates into a military base, steals a jet and starts blowing up everything in the city.

When I first heard of the concept my thought was that big companies were allowed to commit tax fraud, get the money offshore or off your political rival or smt, and I wondered how difficult that must've been to make a movie like that, but oh well, an annual massacre is actually pretty engaging too 😂

Saturnalia was also a celebration of saturn, and the "golden age of humanity" when saturn ruled the earth. It was a celebration of egalitarianism, where slaves had no masters for the week and the masters were hosts for friends, family and "property". They were allowed to participate and we're treated as the masters would be treated.
