Wow, almost missed the Gaetz reporting -- it's okay, it's the 7th video today about Gaetz..Phew!

I think he is using Gaetz to a) identify which of the GOP senators are likely to oppose him moving forward, so he can quickly marginalize them and/or convince them to get onboard or quit and b) his first choice for AG is personal lawyer Todd Blanche but that, under normal circumstances would be a massive conflict of interest, as the AG isnt supposed to be a president's personal lawyer. So he proposes Gaetz, then when it gets shot down, he proposes Blanche as a "compromise" and the senators agree, thinking they have dodged a bullet...but that was the plan all along.
