The current situation reminds me of the story about guy who perceived himself as the local hard man, and decided that owning a vicious looking dog would complete the image. He visited a notorious dog breeder, selected the meanest looking dog on offer and handed over his money. When he tried to put the dog into his truck it savagely attacked him and he was badly injured. As he was being put into the ambulance he said " I don't understand it. I just paid $1000 for that dog, I own it. Why did it bite me"? Politicians are like that dog. Just because you support them and vote for them it doesn't mean they are on your side.

He’s absolutely right. Trump will eventually go after anyone who isn’t sufficiently loyal. I voted for Al Gore. I voted for John Kerry. I was angry that SCOTUS decided the election for Bush. I was disappointed when he was re-elected in 2004. If McCain or Romney had beaten Obama I would’ve been upset and disappointed. I was devastated and afraid when Trump won in 2016, ecstatic and relieved when Biden kicked his ass in 2020. For the first time in 53 years, I am terrified of the president elect. Anyone who thinks this is business as usual is a fool.

SCOTUS specifically gave presidents immunity to direct their DOJs to prosecute individuals outside of the law. Sure, they still have to secure an indictment, etc, but there’s supposed to be a huge red line there. Trump WILL use the DOJ and the IRS to go after his enemies. He’s Nixon on steroids. It will become dangerous to be an outspoken critic.
