In this lesson I start out explaining how Bearing describes a direction of movement. I then work through 4 examples.
Example 1 involves Right Triangle Trigonometry SOHCATTOA at 4:24
Example 2 involves Pythagorean Theorem at 12:52 and final answer should be in kilometers:)
Example 3 involves Law of Cosine at 19:38
Example 4 we find a new Bearing using Law of Sine at 25:36
Right Triangle Trigonometry Part 1
Oblique Triangles Law of Sines
Law of Cosines

Oh my goodness, thank you! I've been fighting with this bearing problem for hours now! I never thought to subtract everything from 360 degrees. It seems so obvious now!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I sure wished that I had found this while doing my Precal Honors HW last week, the entire class was stumped on bearings and despite sincere efforts on behalf of my teacher many (including me, one of the class's higher scorers) were still having a bit of a disconnect. Luckily, on advice from my dad, I found this little goldmine of a channel about a month ago ago, and this video on the exact same type of word problem I was stuck on was released a week before my huge chapter test! Must be fate ☺ definitely going to share this with my class tomorrow. BAM, earned yourself a sub, champ!

Thank you so much for your video! It helped me a lot, your explanation is very good, and the way you make the videos is just perfect and it actually let the audience catch the information. Thank you!

Professor RobBob, thank you for a super explanation of Trigonometry Bearing and Navigation Problems. Although these kinds of problems have many real-world applications, I always have some difficulty solving these kinds of problems. I will rewatch some of these videos for a solid understanding of the subject. I will also review Bearing and Navigation problems in Precalculus. The final answer should be in Kilometers rather than miles in example two.

Yeah, watching all these people on YouTube, I just realized my teacher sucks. I've been in class for 3 months and I finally understand everything from watching these guys.
