Getting more than a single brand of GPUs working in Cycles is important especially with how hard it is to get GPUs now and Nvidia being really stingy with VRAM.
Glad AMD is getting back on board and I hope Blender would be able to add Intel's Alchemy lineup too when the time comes.

That is good news, would have loved to see a compairison between Cycles X and Cycles X & HIP to make the performance gains more tangible tho

Support for GPU rendering in Cycles with the amdgpu driver on Linux would be a heavenly thing I still couldn't dream I will live to see happen.

Thank you for answering my questions, Pablo!

While I am glad that cycles can finally be used with AMD GPU and it works, It's hard to get too excited until i can see performance numbers. I want it to be competitive but only time will tell. I mean I'm not going to go run out and buy a new GPU anytime soon but when my next upgrade cycle comes it would be nice to have options.

Thanks for the great work Brian. I ran a couple of renders with W6800 last night. The compilation time is nonexistent 😍

For those who' are wondering: Macs with AMD Graphics cards also profit from this update. Takes almost half of the Render times (iMac i9, Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16 GB VRAM).
Can't wait for metal support :)

Yay, good news for AMD cycles. I hope the performance is comparable to CUDA.
Next goal: make use of the RDNA2 ray accelerators... that would be awesome.
Also Polaris support maybe...

using experimental rendering settings in beta 3.0 makes cycles viewport so good on amd 5700 even without pro driver update. It's such an improvement, very fast and no dirty dithering or fireflies. I love it!

I dream of the day Blender will be able to change line thickness for the viewport. Both in Edit Mode and Pose Mode. For a 4k monitor it's SO thin it's almost invisible. Even with the "thick" selected in the menu (which makes all the UI have ugly thick lines for no reason).

Now I know that I'll be doing tonight. CyclesX

I love pie menus, but next pie menu should be for your workspace tabs like compositing texturing modeling etc.

Great news! I got an AMD gpu because they were the only ones available and I got the optix fomo really hard!

How does my RX580 fare?
I can't test it myself cuz I'm still in Win 7. I have what I need to update-in-place, but am trepidatious of actually DOING it. lol

That feeling, when u just bought the long-awaited (literally 5 years long awaited) nvidia gpu and this happens. I was seriously thinking of buying an AMD gpu but i just didn't like the idea of having to use the non-mainstream node system of ProRender.

Now rx570 is even more useless 😭, i cant use my gpu in cycles 3.0, i hope Blender supports potato gpu even more in future

Wonder if that Auto Close brackets also works on rounded brackets as well as on curly brackets. Hope they added it fo all instances and not just the square brackets
