Method 2: Samsung Tablet Factory Reset for forgotten password

This is another way to factory reset your Samsung Tablet

This is useful if you have forgotten your password but want to wipe your device to make it useful

I finally (after days of trying) got this method to work!
- Press and hold power + volume down
- RELEASE BOTH KEYS as soon as the screen blacks out
- When you hear the soft buzz, immediately press and hold power + volume up + home.
- Keep holding until you see the blue screen.

Some more tips:
- The timing is very sensitive, so you have to try and try again
- Some people reported that having the device plugged in / paired made a difference. I did it without. Doesn't seem to matter for me.
- If you see the animated SAMSUNG logo, you know you failed. So you don't have to wait for it to fully boot before trying again. Just press and hold power + volume down again.

This has been very tedious and frustrating. But hang in there and you will get it!

You are a life saver. I was given an old Samsung Tab A6 with a passcode on it. I followed your directions, as well as the comment from @Lucasbeer, and was able to factory reset it successfully!
In case Lucas's comment isn't available, here's what to do.

-Press and hold power + volume down until the screen resets. (The device might take a screenshot, that's fine. Keep holding the buttons down)
-As soon as the screen blacks out, RELEASE both keys!
-Immediately press and hold power + volume up + home.
-When you see the blue screen with the Android symbol, release the keys.

Thanks, Rick your post shows a different but correct way to factory reset A6 Samsung Tablet, thank you for posting the correct method, most others are saying volume down and off button only which does not work on A6 tablets.
