Always thought the recommended way of spooling the line is with the spool laying horizontally with the spool logo facing up.

Will the tape counterbalance the reel slightly?

Why does my new 2021 Nasci 3000 have concentric circles at the bottom of the spool?
Is backing / tape to prevent slip or for the angler save cash on expensive braid which comes in 150 or 300, either too short or too long for the spool?

only beef i have with electrical tape vs mono backing, i dont want glue/residue on the spool

with braid it is fine. But if you were putting mono onto a reel this is the incorrect way????

Wind knots? On a rod that has K-Guides? It does not happen.
