I think Jack is somehow tied to the Borg and the vines represent the Collective reaching out to him. How wonderful to have Data back and Brent Spiner able to appear in pretty much his own, 70-ish face! Another great ep, my favorite. Great job, Eric from your fellow Chicago dweller!

Inherited Borg DNA is an interesting thought. That white void has been seen in Star Trek a number of times, besides Lower Decks. We saw it on TNG in “Tapestry.” We saw it more than once on DS9, beginning with the pilot. We saw it again on “Enterprise, ” between Trip and T’Pol. And also, while not exactly a WHITE void, we did see a somewhat similar realm in the Original Series episode, “The Alternative Factor.”

You missed… when Vadic says, I’m going to execute… (pause) one by one. then memory goes back to that famous diner scene in pulp fiction where in her role there; She states “I’m gonna execute every last one of you!”

Very reminiscent of that

Another great breakdown. I mostly liked the episode; there were a lot of good scenes. I'm glad they addressed how Riker & Troi were grieving over Thad - the grief over losing a child will never go away & people handle it differently. In Season 1 they maybe have "seemed" to be at peace with it but grief can sneak up on you. I am REALLY glad they sort of addressed Worf & Troi - I am one of the few that liked them as a couple. Troi was really helpful to Worf in dealing with Alexander (who I'd like to see in Star Trek Legacy) and it's clear Worf still has a lot of respect and high regard for her. I have no idea what Jack's deal is. Inheriting Borg parts from Picard makes the most sense I think but kind of odd Beverly never noticed the nanaprobes (or what ever they are) in all the times she's scanned him. I'd say Pah-Wraith is the least likely but I don't know. I am kind of annoyed they didn't just open the door and end the episode with a "holy cow" moment. They've dragged it out about an episode too long and I'm mildly concerned the reveal won't be worth the wait. Still optimistic and enjoying this season though.

The Pah Wraiths of Khan. Great review Eric.

I'm pretty convinced now that Jack has the entity Redjac in him, or at least part of it. He has a lot of the same stuff going on that happened in Wolf in the Void, and the sequel strip in the DC Star Trek comic from the 80's.

Would have been just the best if she used the iconic pulp fiction line when she took the bridge 😂😂

It's neither the Pa Wraiths nor Species 8472. It's...

...those Flying-Fried-Egg Aliens from 'Operation: Annihilate!'

It has to be the Borg. F*** the romulans Klingons whatever, the Borg were the Beast for the next generation crew.

I grew up watching it and it gave me a very admiration for the Romulans, but it was the Borg you were scared of

It was a strange thing to say to 7 on the bridge, I would be so happy if it was the borg, only because of the second season portrayal of the borg, redemption of the best foes in Star Trek would be awesome!
Imagine if your first introduction to the borg was the second season finale…..
Great video as usual 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I think the Borg are a red herring. The ancient, weak, isolated, darkness is Armus. Armus had the ability to telepathically control others. He was a fluid like a changeling, with a grotesque appearance and gravelly voice not totally dissimilar from "the face". He could mix with Vadic's changelings; imbuing them with both powers and limits. Last time we saw him, he was alone with Picard, and had plenty of unexplored ability to control matter. Deanna will be uniquely equipped to telepathically recognize Armus' presence, as she was in communication with him more than anyone. Armus was left alone and isolated by the Enterprise crew, and definitely has a score to settle. I'm sure Data will be instrumental in his ultimate demise, as his newly integrated humanity will allow him to avenge Tasha.

Did anyone else see the wraith from Stargate behind jack dressed as an officer @ 4:36 😅

That was the bridge dome not the evacuation hatch. The evacuation hatch is behind the view screen

Way back in episode 6 or maybe even episode 5 I started the theory that Jack could be some kind of Borg-Changling hybrid. Remember in season one the Romulians had the Artifect full of Borg to by experimented on. Now in season three we learned that Section 31 had some Changlelings to experiment on. And the Romulians also had some of Picard's DNA in Nemsis, so Jack could be some kind of pregrammable Borg/Changleling DNA tampered with Picard offspring hybrid. This is Star Trek, anything could be made possible.

From the trailer for next week - whatever Deanna sees behind the red door freaks her out and she takes off abruptly without enlightening Jack. Guessing she doesn't want him to know for some reason.

Based on the clip from the next episode, Troi has a traumatic reaction to what is behind the door. So it might be Artemis or Shinzon.
