None of these cars will be affordable to most car buyers. The real story is which cars will be $25, 000 or less and have fast charging. These are the cars that will make the EV car market explode!

Why does the Mercedes and Rolls Royce have front grills when they are electric cars? It has no purpose and just allows dirt to get inside. I'm guessing it will also increase air friction.

There is no such thing as a Zero Emission Vehicle. The real question is, where are the emissions associated with the electric car? Because what you do with an electric vehicle is you don’t eliminate emission, you export them somewhere else. You have to dig up 500, 000 LBS of materials to make a single 1000 LB battery. It takes 100-300 barrels of oil to manufacture a battery that can hold 1 barrel of oil equivalent of energy. Just manufacturing the battery can have a carbon debt rate ranging from 10 tons to 40 tons of CO2. And the plans that are in place to increase the use of batteries will require an increase in production of minerals like lithium, cobalt, zinc. Demand for those minerals will increase between 400% and 4000%. There isn’t enough mining in the world to make enough batteries for that many people for their cars.

At some time, manufacturers/marketing personnel involved in the BEV industry will have to change their motto re: climate change and greenhouse gases when it comes to sale/production of these automobiles.

We would hope that with lowered pricing for batteries and increased range plus the advent of more affordable electrical power that persons would consider the economy of use of these vehicles. In the end, that is what matters MOST when a purchase of significant size is made, i.e., the personal ROI.

Only a very small number of persons will purchase expensive automobiles to save the earth, really. The argument is quite plainly silly and not likely to provide the switch from ICEs to BEVS. Economy and utility will be all that matters.
