I am working on paying my mortgage only 50k. Every month, I put an extra 500 towards the principal. Last year, I came into some money (class action). I put it all 3k towards my mortgage principal.

I enjoy watching your videos. You are relatable and you‘re never trying to sell stuff. 😊

I rarely go out to eat anymore because the prices are too high and the portion size is shrinking. For those nights when you just don’t want to cook I will pick things up at the supermarket deli. It’s half the cost of going out to eat and yet someone else cooked it. I also get to determine the portion size. Again I do this rarely but it’s a little treat to me.

Oh my, so glad to hear someone else is a home body 😂. We like our home, our bed. We love day trips with a picnic adventure then home.

I want to get rid of card debt in the next 7 months and stop using the card almost completely. I have only owned for the last year and a half and I shopped more than usual. I was raised in a card less society and where everything is bought with cash (in stores, to buy houses/build houses, pay tuition, buy cars etc). I’m African and most countries there are still mostly using cash only. It makes you have discipline, respect your money, delay gratification, and if you can’t afford things you won’t be able to buy it 😊

I totally agree about restaurant quality having gone downhill since Covid, along with massive price increases. We used to go out for everybody's birthday celebrations, anniversary, etc. Now, forget it. We let the birthday person pick out what they want for a celebratory meal and cook it at home! Once in a while we treat ourselves (usually during lunch), but not nearly as often. For anyone on the fence about budgeting - it is definitely worth it. We now know where our money is going (no more 'having more month than money'), and we are squeaking out larger chunks all the time to pay down debt. Never, ever would've happened without budgeting. -Harriet G.

I love our deck not fancy, fancy but love that it is there. We sit out in the mornings and drink our coffee. Heavenly. Thank you ❤

Hey girl Happy weekend!!!
I’m 40 and <trying> to rock the white hair!! 😂 ever since hair salons shut down in 2020, I’ve lost my desire for the 4-6 week touch up. My students always ask me, “how old ARE you??? Why do you have WHITE hair?!?!” 👩🏼‍🦳 I call it “affordable platinum” 😂

Great information. It's so encouraging to see a young family with the priorities you have.

This might seem like a no brainer for others but I finally wrote down a list of extra expenses to pay by the month so I can add them to that month's budget and plan for them such as car insurance, annual vet bills, a/c service, car registration and quarterly pest control.

Yes, I can’t think when my house is cluttered! I get irritable and snippy and I hate it. We are still working on getting our kids to keep things picked up and clean, but getting rid of stuff has helped this! Garage sale! 💵

Jennifer I always split the upcoming bills into monthly payments in my savings account. Thus when for example my insurance bill comes up I would have the money saved for it. No stress at all especially when the income is limited.

Congratulations Jennifer for sticking to your plans and getting your mortgage paid off and of course congrats also to your husband. Well done both of you. Your little girl has a more secure future for one thing and you have built in security for yourselves as well in case of illness or wanting to change jobs or careers or whatever.... endless possibilities which can arise especially since you are all so young. I've loved your channel since my first days on you tube and continue to enjoy your videos. Thank you for all your hard work. Love Vera in Northern Ireland ❤❤❤

Hey Jennifer, I hope you and the family are well 🙏 Me and my partner recently sold our house and were able to clear quite substantial debt that had built up over the years due to adverse life circumstances. We were really struggling on a basic level to not only pay rent & bills but eat aswell. Now we are debt free it is a huge relief and we will never get into debt again. We are still trying to live frugal but have no budget as yet, tbh I'm not quite sure where to start but I know that tracking your spending and budgeting is the best way forward 🤗

I like to set up my coffee maker the night before and make sure my kitchen is neat for the next morning.

I make large meals 3lbs of meat or chicken, with rice & veggies. Usually, I use slow cooker or airfryer. I only cook 2 days a week.

One of the things that has really helped me not just declutter but also save money is be part of freecyling group in my city. If i need to give something away, put it on the group. At times, i ask for some thing i need and i have got it. there are times people have offerred some good items and i have claimed it. Few of the things i got is - a good bag, bluetooth speaker, music CDs, books, etc.I also watch stuff on Youtube. Since you can download some videos, i use that option. Have watched movies for free on YouTube. Also i am a bookworm but i am on budget. so i download free classic books and other free books on my kindle. I also visit book sales that sell mostly used books. Have got many books for dirt cheap price.
