This a great video, I love your stuff. The single engine 4 place 2400 pound gross weight aircraft with upgraded engines by far make the best backcountry plane. Short, light, and capable! This is the type of flying people need to see if we want to keep GA alive. Fun, challenging, and adventurous. GA Flying is no longer a viable source of travel but the way to get places you can’t get with a car. Thank you for showing people what can be done with a private plane.

excellent video, my uncle had a 1949 170a that was fun to ride in, hope the 182 gets repaired, like the airplane..

The paint scheme on this 170 is the coolest one I've ever seen. I've been waiting for you to showcase your 170. Great video. I fly a stock 170A out of a 1000ft grass strip at the local aiport for a banner towing business. We fly it along Rio's beaches at 200-250ft and 55-60mph (no flaps). It flies and behaves so well. I love 170's way too much. :)

I could never quite work out why most STOL and bush planes are taildraggers. Surely tricycle gear is better for stopping, cause you don't have to worry about flipping over.

Not sure how you were loaded during the shot of the tail wheel, but looks like the spring is worn out/flat. Either way, I’d expect you’re seeing some tail wheel shimmy. Congrats on the new bird and thanks for the videos.

Personal piece of advice: Replace your fasteners on your instrument panel with Torx. Much less likely to strip out.

What was the extent of the damage to the 182, will I be able to repair and return it to flying?

You are such a competent and smooth pilot. Looks like you’ve been flying her for years.

"Start with 10 degrees of flaps", I heard that. I converted a '59 172 to tailwheel/180 HP/CS prop/Horton STOL . I did not do the VG's due to snow/ice and wing covers, though I really considered it. In official competition it achieved a measured TO roll of 146 feet in calm air (not a realistic working expectation since it was stripped and had about 30 minutes of fuel onboard). It would fly before airspeed indicated, so timing and feel, with a healthy dose of 'where do I go if it doesn't fly'. And when things are happening quickly bobbing your head down to reach a flap handle is not so good, 10 degrees does put it in easy reach. Technique was to hold forward pressure and when the tail came up so you could see over the nose, put it back down and drop 40 degrees of flaps. I currently have a small pile of 170B that needs to be rebuilt, motivational videos like this are a big help!
