The CUT Potential of Vanny

Vanny was a character hyped up for a big role in Fnaf Security Breach and who is even now pushed as a new face for the franchise. So, why was she all but carved out of the game that was supposed to be her introduction? Today we're taking a closer look at the character, her role in Security Breach, and perhaps what role she ACTUALLY plays.

Hot take: Vanny should’ve just been a deranged fan of Afton’s who looked up to him and wanted to follow in his footsteps. Like a better version of scrap baby

I like to think the animation where she crawls on all fours was meant to chase Gregory around the vents, which is such a missed opportunity cause it would’ve been suspenseful and scary

The more time it passes, the more convinced i am that sony is the main responsible for security breach's state (outside y'know steel wool biting more than what they were able the chew and the fanbase going rampant cause they couldn't wait more than a year for another fnaf game).

Vanny's case is so dissapointing. I was so happy to see her on the teasers, her old VA on the 1st trailer was eerie, the idea of being a deranged afton fangirl commiting murders on his name was neat, and it was thrown into the trash. I assure you, we needed that more than bringing the stinky rotten rabbit man AGAIN.

Same for vanessa, i wanted to play as her :(

Vanny is probably one of my favourite characters, her teasers were amazing, her old voice actress was amazing her design and animations are amazing, but when it comes to a actual character, villain and an antagonist she’s a fucking joke. I think steel wool made a massive mistake in rushing the game during the last final months and should have delayed it a bit to patch up the story with her and William

the Joker and William have a lot in common, the most common thing being to overshadow all other characters and be reused to the point of exhaustion, losing their original essence and taking the spotlight away
of other characters

Really good video! I appreciate the fact you touch on Vanessa/Vanny's reluctance as a follower of William here. A lot of the community seems to want her to just be some kind of Afton fangirl continuing his legacy, and while that makes a lot of the "Peepaw Afton" memes pretty funny, I think it's kind of bland, and I don't think it'd be written well enough anyway, my opinions aside. Plus, doing the same thing William did would be barely above just bringing him back, anyway, because the same result is happening for not much of a different reason.

While the entire story has kind of made itself rely on William by tying almost every single thing to him in some way, there is still a lot of potential to be found if a new villain is introduced that breaks that standard.

One thing that really bugs me about Vanny is that despite so many advertisements showing her with a knife, she never once is seen using or at the very least holding the knife

Protect mode where you play as Vanessa and refuse to help Glitchtrap so he takes over the animatronics instead FNAF 1-UCN Style and Obey mode where you play as Gregory and have to hide from Vanny

I really like the concept of Vanny, I'm even absolutely fine with Afton being in her brain, but she should really be the main villain moving forward, Afton actually dying in fnaf 6 and Glitchtrap just being a shredded reincarnation of him that lasts just long enough to inspire the next generation of furderers is just better story telling than simply more springtrap

Maybe make it so it's just not possible for glitchtrap to be put into a robot body, or even better have some dialog where Glitchtrap says he doesn't need to come back because with his guidance he trusts Vanny will do it just fine. Though for this to work Vanny would have to actually be a dynamic character with agency and a dynamic with the purple and all because just Afton in a lady's body is boring, and kinda also weird for obvious reasons

In conclusion it would've been better if glitchtrap just chilled out in the back seat and let someone else take the reins, you could even have someone like Michael, Cassidy or Henry return to drag Afton back to hell once and for all and Vanny would just continue to be evil in her own way without him, she's entertaining enough on her own especially with the split personality thing, but Afton sticking to her for good like an eviler Bon-Bon is also acceptable,

maybe have her good half grapple with being unable to remember her past properly due to the brainwashing, its theorized Afton tried to craft and gaslight her into Elizabeth so you could play with the reluctant half being confused and scared and determined to undermine the evil part of her, you could have vanny and Afton working to erase Vanessa completely so vanny can reap havoc unimpeded, that could be really interesting especially in horror

Unfortunately it seems the future of fnaf is just going to be Blob-Afton and given Afton has a body now in general I'm scared Vanny is just going to be written out of the story with no fanfare because she fulfilled her purpose and probably isn't related to him and is therefore irrelevant, at best she's probably gonna end up dead as an evil version of the puppet who exclusively works to keep William alive and has no personality besides that

Long essay short Vanny would work better as an heir than she does as an assistant

The thing that no seems to be taking about is what will come after security and the dlc, I mean we can't go back to the classic FNAF formula and there's also the movie which I still don't if it's still in production or if it's cancelled
