How to use queries and indentation in Logseq (with examples)

In this video I break down how to use queries, which is a key part of most of my Logseq workflows and will hopefully help you take your database to the next level. In conjunction with this, I also break down how to use indenting effectively.

The video is more suited to beginners, but there might be one or two tricks here for the old-hands (being optimistic here 🙂)

🤓 LOGSEQ COURSE
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

If you're struggling to manage all your notes and information across personal, professional and academic life, then this is for you. I've built out a structured approach to mastering Logseq from the bottom-up, so that you don't need to navigate through a mass of disparate YouTube tutorials.

Logseq is a powerful combination of a text editor, an outliner, and a linked-network builder, but there is admittedly a learning curve. The course has a wealth of write-ups, videos and diagrams to smooth your transition and quickly master the set of tools available to you in Logseq.

Thanks for this video. Even two years later it's still very helpful for beginners. Just one question: why have you removed the tag:: property from the page properties? Is there a special reason?

A complicated topic that you clearly explained, great work! Looking forward to an even more advanced video on queries if that is on your #Work #Important #Urgent schedule ;)

Will you explain why you stopped using "tags" as a property? I've noticed my queries don't play nice with tags..

It's really helpful! Thank you very much!

I'm Sorry, but can you help me? If I want to do things like this: all page with property-tag named "Project" and without "Archived", and I wrote: {{query (and (property tag Project) not(property tag Archived))}}.
Then it does not work. (It finally found out all the page that without "Archived" but not contains "Project".)

Sorry for my basic English.

Great video, thanks!
OT Question: What hardware did you use to write to the MS Whiteboard in this video?

I cannot get my query to work. I am trying to get a TODO list with Urgent marked blocks. My ultimate goal is to have a TODO page that lists tasks by Low, medium, urgent and done. Ideally, I want this in a list format instead of the reference with the date. Is this possible? I am still exploring Logseq and whether it is right for me. However, your videos are very easy to follow and I am considering the training you offer.

very good explained! Please, can you help me with a query? {{query (and (Todo Todo) (not (priority A B C) (Scheduled)))}} -> what i want: all Todos without priority A or B or C and without Scheduled. The result is always: Todo without prioritys and with and without scheduling Date

at 12:21 (context 12:13) you talk about how "if you're doing things in the journal, it's not really recognizing the parent block". Could you elaborate on what that means, and whether it's still the case now?

Would you be referring to how if you have the following in the journal, the query `{{query (and #parent #child)}}` would not show the block?

2023_08_04.md:
#parent
#child foo

A slightly less confusing terminology might be to say: "parentheses, " "braces, " and "brackets"
