i have it here on my desk and played around the last days with it. What i can say: DA-Conversion sounds really great. I compared it to my Audient ID14 MKII which sounds really strange in my ears. The Audient seem to add some kind of coloration, even at the output (kind of pronounced highs and lows) and the preamps of the SSL and the 4k Mode does really shine compared to the Audient. The headphone amp is the best i have ever connected my 250ohm DT880 Pro´s to. Both headphone amps are super loud, impedance is adjustable and they sound very good too. I really like the 360 software, as i used it before with UF8/UC1 already. Maybe you should give it a try in real life!

Follow up. I now have the unit. And I can tell you it is worth the headphone outputs alone. It is warm, clean, clear and this thing does not distort. Even on high impedance setting. I haven’t had any ear fatigue since I’ve had the headphones on. I am using Slate VSX headphones.

I have a SSL 2 coming from RME. I don't use the SSL mic pre's and use the Warm Audio WA73-EQ mic pre. The 4K don't sound good on vocals for me . However on analog or hardware synths the 4k sounds amazing. Headphones out on the SSL units are great .

That's really interesting (and surprising to me) the point you made about a lot of people not expressly using the 4k for tracking. Without knowing this, one would think those pre-amps were in high demand for recording since they're playing up the 4k color in the marketing of this unit. Well, well, well.

32 bits AD DA so Recording that s what i see first and interested in. Uad apollo X8 still in 24 bits, happy to have sold this . Converters are way better ( nice comparisons made on the Produce like a pro by Marc on differents converters ... bass and high not the same like JCF converters) . Preamps UAD ? i prefer my neve 1073 . I gonna try this for the converters

Yes. This is the type of product that legacy brands like that should be making. But alas, not every one of these brands know the market like SSL does

It’s a gimmick that’s not even real gimmick 😂
I do see the passive tape emulation finally in shot, so hopefully we get to see this soon 😉

Hey BroSis, as here the same. I have bought this baby and to be honest to me it is blowing my mind as the Converters sound so super amazing. Compared to what I had before, now it sounds much more clean and it seems to me SSL guys came up with a very fair product here for the mid range market. Best Regards, Tim.

The Alpha VHD-Pre sounds pretty good in my opinion. I guess the SSL 12 isn't superb (especially for this price), but not bad at all - tha's my speculation.

What is the benefit of 32bit converters? This is the cheapest I've seen them. I heard you can record really loud recordings through them without distortion. The price amazes me because every other 32bit converter interface is well over 1.5k

And THAT is what I hate about audio interface marketing. Then brands like Behringer are known as "cheapo" in the music production community, but at least they are straight up. You actually get 2, 4, 8 channels available out the box. 🤷‍♂

SSL 12 or Audient ID44 mk2. I bought the 2nd one ID44 MK2 and I don't like the preamps, I don't like anything. I upgrade from a Steinberg ur22 mk2 and it was like nothing changed? I am thinking of sending it back! what do you think?.
