If they had Dr. Socko hospital grip socks that wouldn’t have happened

Nurses are angels. Thank you girls. And guys for taking care of our elderly folk. I lost my parents last year and in 2020.

"Don't waft the blankets when straightening a bed" they said, when I was but a naive young soul taking my first CNA class. I figured it was simply improper. It was only later when I inhaled a mouthful of skin flakes while subsequently trying not to gag in front of a patient did I really, /truly/ understand.

Skin flakes are the least worrying thing to fly into your eyeballs in the ER

Yep true!! As a NURSE, I've become immune to smells and sights. I've cleaned up vomit, loose stool, wet diapers and changed soiled beds AND then went to lunch afterwards!! Knowing my patient was clean and comfortable was enough to let my hunger

Not just nurses! I was direct care staff at a state school for a couple years out of high school. We dealt with everything: projectile vomiting, residents flinging poo, blood, sweat, tears, stuff we couldn’t even identify. We didn’t even have access to gloves or hand sanitizer back in the 80s. We had a 30 minute break per 8 hour shift. Nothing stopped us from eating…NOTHING!❤😅

So true!! When I worked at a nursing home it was amazing the things you could talk about over lunch and it never affected your appetite!! 😅

Nurses can eat under all circumstances and they tell patients to drink more, but forget it themselves

This reminds me of back when my dad was alive.
I had to wrap his legs every 2 days, he had Diabetes type 2 and celullulitis extreme (his arteries were literally rotting away and 7 of his toes were amputated)
I once took his bandages of to see maggots and I puked multiple times before finally taking them all out. And I also had his skin flakes flung in my face as I cleaned his skin off.

I miss him, I hope he's resting in peace.

I do Direct Support. And there is nothing like Stopping lunch, Assisting with a bedpan, and the going back to lunch like nothing happened.

I'm a veterinarian. I still eat my lunch like any other day even after a patient dog with diarrhea. Just change my clothes, wash my hands and face, and eat 😂

I no longer enjoy hot coffee or tea. After 25 years in the ER & ICU, I never finished a hot cup. I now prefer it warm and will let it sit til it gets that way.

I once eent to the emergency room. Unfortunately, I had wet myself. I was mortified and kept apologizing over and over. The nurses were so kind and said not to worry about it and that many people never apologize. I still feel bad about it.

Thank God for good quality nurses! I really wish they were compensated better
