Old white guy here. Over the years I’ve been accused of being, smart, intelligent, gifted intellectually, and even genius. I admit to not being dumb. However, my black African wife from Tanzania and her cousin, whom I “adopted” as my son, both repeatedly proved much smarter than me in many ways. One of my boyhood hero’s was the true genius George Washington Carver. Studying his life and scientific achievements, I realized that Brilliance is Color Blind. Let me repeat: Brilliance is Color Blind.👍

I will share this with my two grandchildren who asked me why they are black. In some schools racism is practised freely as banter. This leaves permanent scars on our little ones.

My mother was an Educator, Mathematician and Scientist. She always scored 100% plus bonuses and had a proctor assigned directly to her during UNIVERSITY and NURSING school because they could not accept that brilliant mind. She left Nursing because she was constantly battling with RACIST IDEOLOGY and RACIAL PROPAGANDA in MEDICINE (still exists today) and completed teaching. They used her to write programs for Education in teaching difficult learners, traveling to EUROPE with special teams— never getting credit! She should have been here. I watch HIDDEN FIGURES and weep, because it reminds me of her genius. We have been denied our rightful place in building this society.

My Grandpa once told us that before the Trans Atlantic slave trade era, black folks used to venture across the Great Seas in search of New Lands. Most of them did not return. Those that returned will tell stories around burn fires in the evenings. Most of these brave travelers were identified with body piercings like an ear/nose ring to show that they have traversed the great seas and returned safely. Africans were great Explorers even before the Europeans discovered Africa.
