Rules:
1. Only my starter in battle
2. No items in battle, except held items
3. No glitches, exploits, or save states
4. No movepool evasion-boosting moves before level 100*

Rule details:
-- I make no attempt to have the exact same rule details between generations.
-- I am allowed to manipulate my starter
-- I play the game at 4x game speed
-- For fair comparisons my Pokemon have perfect (or near perfect) DVs / IVs
-- I am allowed to catch HM users - I can use all field moves
-- Evasion boosting is allowed if the move is not obtained from the Pokemon’s movepool. For example, using Mimic or Mirror Move to boost evasion is allowed.
-- Surge's trash-can-puzzle is automatically solved
-- The bike is allowed in gen1 & 4, banned in gen2, and allowed only to bypass terrain in gen3
-- Saving between league members is allowed
-- I can pause the game and timer to take breaks
-- Items obtained with the ability Pickup can only be used if the starter obtained them
-- The footage is sped up & slowed down to match the pace of my narration

These Rule details apply only to generation 1:
-- All battle-mechanic glitches are allowed (glitches that occur outside of battle are banned)
-- In generation 1, I'm allowed to skip Marowak with the Poke Doll

If you didn’t read these rules and left a comment. Thanks for helping with the algorithm.

If you're new around here, Venomoth is a Psychic/Flying type, you can't change my mind.

It was always weird how they put a random Hiker in the middle of the Elite 4 in RBY, glad Game Freak fixed this and added Bruno from GSC to the remakes.

It is unintuitive and arguable, but I see the reasoning behind SonicBoom not being sound-based.
Sound-based moves appear to all be effects caused directly by sound the Pokemon produces, i.e. Sing is a lullaby that causes the opponent to sleep.
A sonic boom *is* a sound, but it's the sound of a shock wave caused by motion at super-sonic speeds. A lot of the time when people say "sonic boom" they are referring to the shock wave and not the sound.
Voltorb isn't producing a sound directly, it's just moving so fast that the shock wave it creates damages its opponent.
Soundproof doesn't block it because it's not the sound that damages Porygon. It's the shock wave, the super-sonic motion, that damages Porygon.

...I think?

10:10 for normal types with psychic and fighting coverage: the Jigglypuff and Clefairy lines get both psychic and brick break starting in Gen 3, as do Spinda, Snorlax, and Togetic. And the Blissey line, but brick break isn’t going to do much of anything for her. Togekiss in gen 4 also gets Aura Sphere by move relearner, and interestingly has Extrasensory by default only from the Togepi egg in HGSS.

Sadly i hate to say. But download only activates when porygon enters the field. So in a solo challenge, only one. However if you're lucky it can just eat an intimidate

I can imagine Scott and Misty both staring intently at their sharp rainbow boys spamming Recover against each other.

Porygon's back sprite looks fantastic!

Haven't seen it commented yet, but Whirlwind and Roar don't work if you have no other party members. So after depositing your HM friends, you can set up to +6 on Bruno and the Champ without issue. May help Porygon's time a bit for the 2nd playthrough. Nice vid!

Hi just wanted to say that, from gen 2 onwards, whirwind/roar have negative priority which means that setting up to +3 with no worries is possible, your Pokémon is gonna move first anyway.
I love the Porygon line. The video was great.

Has venomoth been using conversion all this time!?

A small correction regarding Whirlwind and Roar: Starting in gen 3, these moves have -6 priority, so they will almost always go last. This means that you can safely set up to +3 against pokémon with these moves before knocking them out.

I'm proud of Pidgeot. You made it happen Squidgy.
It's always a pleasure hearing your voice and watching your content. You're awesome at what you do. I appreciate you. May good health envelop you always!

Wigglytuff learns both the Psychic and Brick Break tms and has almost equal attack and special attack, could be a great user of the normal/psychic/fighting move core you mentioned

You read out what Conversion does in Gen. 1, but starting in Gen. 2 it changes the users type into that of one of it's moves. Starting in Gen. 6 that's always the type of the move in the first slot.

I love how the typing is updated live in the overlay. Thanks for putting in the work, Scott.

31:49 ...but why aren't you depositing all of your other Pokemon into the PC before taking on the League? Wouldn't that be the automatic counter for Whirlwind at the end?

As a future note: Whirlwind has negative priority in Generation 3, so unless you're also using a move like Whirlwind you CAN set up to +3 and then kill it because it'll always go second.
