Rules and Explanations
Rules: (1) Only use the one Pokémon in Battle, others for HMs are fine. (2) No Items in battle (3) No Glitches* (4) Set Mode (5) No saving in the Elite Four (6) No evasion moves

*Badge Boost "Glitch" Explanation: When you collect odd numbered badges the game boosts a stat by 12.5%. Brock gives ATK, Surge DEF, Koga SPE, and Blaine SPC (in game text is wrong). When any of your stats are modified (even by you using a move like Withdraw, or your opponent using Leer) the badge boosts are re-applied. So If you use Swords Dance, you also gain *an additional* 12.5% in Speed/Defence/Special (on top of the 12.5% you were supposed to be getting). When you level up, the game corrects this error, and only the non-glitch 12.5% remains. Because of how difficult it is to avoid, I've allowed for it to be exploited, since opponents will spam Leer/Growl anyways, and this way battles are less random. Red/Blue are extremely buggy, so there's always going to be *some* glitches present, and because of how unavoidable this one is, it is allowed in runs, and considered more like a special Generation 1 mechanic as opposed to a glitch.

As a die hard Porygon fan, I was fully prepared to suffer through that original color pallet for the entire video.

As someone who has watched literally this entire series, I totally understand the fatigue of explaining badge boost glitch every time, but I also know how important it is for new viewers. I think it'd be a good idea to have a text box graphic that you can paste into the side of each video when you mention the glitch that explains it briefly. That way they can pause it if they're curious, and if we already know we don't really need to pay attention to it. Glad you're still doing these, you're doing the Lord's work!

I have bittersweet memory of Porygon:

Before any guides, I did the legit gambling to "earn" Porygon from the game counter as a kid, no joke on Pokemon Red. Thinking that Porygon has to be some all powerful digital god pokemon worthy of a party spot and that amount of time. After all, they made it so expensive and kinda hidden in a way. When I got it, I was so disappointed I didn't play for a week. And if you asked my parents 1 week of not playing was crazy because I always had a a gameboy color in my hand and a pokemon game in that gameboy color.

Later on in life, I participated in small prize online pokemon tourney's and won around ~$1000 over a year (don't quit your day job) with a trickroom Porygon 2 with eviolite. Which is still 1 of my all time favorite pokemon to this day. I nickname all my Porygon 2's "Digital Ducky" because they're all cute computer rubber duckies :D

Thank you jrose for the vid and to anyone that reads this. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

I absolutely love the remixed music.
Also, Porygon is a total badass. It sent real life people to the hospital AND can wall Snorlax in competitive. 10/10 would pay 9999 coins again

A note on rarely used moves: I really hope Goldeen gets a chance to use gen 1 Waterfall before it inevitably gets replaced by Surf.

I love Porygon, he's my favorite of all the mons even 20 years later. Saw him on a trading card and he immediately caught my eye with that wonderful card art! Also, Porygon didn't cause the seizures during that banned episode. JUSTICE FOR PORYGON!

Conversion was useful in gen 7 because it could be powered up into Z-conversion, which would change your type (usually into ghost for the fighting immunity) and give you an omni boost (+1 to all stats).

What's funny is that in this generation, Porygon is a fully evolved Pokémon, but in modern generations, it's the first form of a three stage line.

I'm definitely excited for more. Its been a really stressful time lately and these are such a nice break from reality for a minute.

Surge being an actual roadblock for once is hilarious

I can always tell based on JRose's tone of voice in his "hello" whether it'll be a fun or painful run.

Almost half way there. That's pretty cool.

Also, for Conversion. Even if the AI isn't silly, you're trading 33% of the damage you deal on STAB for a 50% damage reduction from the opponent's best attacks. And with the AI manipulation stuff, you can trick the AI into just not using its good moves at all. Sounds pretty strong to me, even if coverage and buffs are more important. And that's without factoring that you're not using normal type attacks much with Porygon. Mathematically, you gain a number of turns by using it against any opponent that isn't one-shot by your attacks.

Apart from a run with a pokémon I literally never used and never bothered getting I can't help but feel that in this one, jrose commentary is way calmer than in other runs. I think it's more soothing that way. Anyone else?
Also keep those vids coming <3

Hey Porygon! One of my favorites! Before this video I iust want to say, I've been following this series since 'Ol Bulbasaur, but it means so much more to me now. I started a job this summer and this series is what helps keep me sane for eight hours a day. Thank you for this series!
