Many people says that Blane is kind of plane, coward and didnt fight for his love to Andie. But I think this. I mean they were all just teenagers. Blane knew that getting involve with Andie will affect his relation with his "friends" and family, but is also true that that was the only life he had ever known, so it was a bit of scary to fight against all of that. So I think for being a teenager and kind of thinking it in a realistic way, he do the best he could.

I'm still sad she never ended up with Duckie. I mean, I like Blane too, he's really sweet and charming, but he just seems like a push-over and a wimp. Like when his idiot friend basically told him to stay away from andie or he won't be his friend anymore, I would've dropped Steff like a hot potato! But instead he tried to avoid Andie cause he was scared of losing his rich friend?! Like, wtf?
But Duckie has always been there for her, since childhood, and he's not only sweet, but really cute, funny, AND generous. Even though it broke his heart to see andie go with Blane, he still told her to go cause he knew she'd be happy. And THAT is true love!

I’m glad Duckie didn’t end up with Andy because of this: it makes for a much more powerful ending. It feels realistic. Sometimes the people you love don’t love you back, but that doesn’t mean you can’t move on from that and grow as a person. Duckie was extremely immature and sexual at the beginning of the movie. Even though he “loved” Andy, he kind of treated her like an object instead of a person. Remember the scene where she’s talking about the beautiful houses but he’s too busy trying to find a good song to listen to her? But his actions in this last scene show us that he really did CARE for her; that because he loved her, her happiness was paramount to him, no matter how sad it made him in the end. I agree that Blaine wasn’t the best choice for Andy; they never really showed much in common, even on the basic level, and most of their relationship was simply based on physical attraction. But BECAUSE of the fact that Andy ended of with Blaine, we can see how REDEEMABLE Duckie is as a character and that makes us love him even more.
