I don't know whether Duckie was gay or not, never thought about it....but one thing is for sure, the character Duckie stole every scene he was in and almost the whole movie

Loved Annie Potts character! Every teen girl needs a friend like her! She ruled!

Duckie is obviously not gay. He expressed his love for her so much in the movie. He really was in love with andie.

Just because a guy is quirky and not the 'typical leading man' don't mean he's gay. I agree with John I never saw Duckie as gay, he really loved her! Plus he was frickin sexy deffs sending me vibs ;)

Duckie is so not gay. He's a hipster. There's a difference. Molly Ringwald man. Crappin on Duckie Dale since the 80s.

I was born July 1970 so I was a fully emerged in 80s culture and I'm here to tell you the 80s did not suck.
The music was awesome, not conserrative, and the fashion was it's own. It created the 80s look which people still talk about today and I mean it when I say that from Summer 83 to late 89 you felt and knew it was your decade if you were young and that people would remember it as "The 80s" in a good light. you had that vibe about it the whole time

How could anyone say Duckie was gay?? He was just a bit whimsical and it was clear that he was in love with Andie!! Being an outsider does not make you gay.

Never liked the ending, Duckie had more passion than that cold fish Blaine.

2023 and I’m still in awe over just how talented & awesome Jon Cryer truly is. Just finished his Memoir Book (I didn’t even know he wrote one), and it was the absolute best Memoir, ever. I actually cried over the last few words in last chapter and the last sentence in the Acknowledgments. ~~~Tanya

At the time of this interview who would have previously thought that in would be Jon Cryer who didn't need to be there for exposure, and yet as a mega star at this point, he is extremely humble and down to earth

Duckie was never gay. He even confessed to her in the movie saying “I would have died for you” when she tells him she is going out with Blaine

It's funny how today's makeup doesn't suit Molly as well as 80's makeup styles suited her.

Never in my mind did I EVEN think Duckie was gay. I still watch this movie and don’t understand why people think that.

I would loved to have seen Molly Ringwald appear on Two and Half men and play a character who hooks up with Alan

some cool trivia about the film: 1) gina gershon plays benny's friend in gym class 2) the actress who played andie's friend in school sadly passed away right after the film was released. 3) benny's friend in class who says "we'll take the chapter" played kevin bacon's girlfriend in "the big picture". sadly she's gone missing with a lot of rumors about her health & well being. 4) the film is set in a chicago suburb but was shot all around LA 5) the blonde at the end of the film that duckie winds up with is the original buffy.

I went to school with Molly in the 7th grade, she was in the facts of life but then she moved to another school or state, not sure, but i still remember her in my PE class.

Molly Ringwald got prettier as she got older and I love her deep husky voice.
