Hey Rob, Great to see the old Sherline out :), would be interesting how those cheap carbide tips look under your USB microscope after a bit of a workout. Great video as always!!

G'day Rob. I think you are having more fun with that Sherline than the law allows. Keep on.

I visited a watch maker and discovered there are very small quick change tool post sizes below AXA and AX0. Height adjustment, super easy. ;-)

You could use a drill bit in the chuck and bore a hole in your tool holder, , the size of your boring bar. That hole would be centered exactly in the on your chuck. No shims or washers.

There are a couple of things on that old Sherline that I prefer to the modern ones. On the new ones the c/s is made of aluminum, and if you tighten the screws more than finger tight when you mount a accessory that uses both T-groves (like the compound slide or a vice for milling) the c/s will warp and bind. By having it in cast iron like I think yours is, and using English style T slots across the c/s, that should be less of an issue. Have you noticed any problems?

Also the tailstock on the new models have a grub screw to hold the tail stock barrel in position. I prefer the slot and screw arrangement I see on yours, it will hold the barrel in central position better than a grub screw. Stefan Gotteswinter showed his Chinese lathe once where he had changed the barrel clamping action to this pinching method.

I've never seen a Blue Sherline before! Mine is black. Is that an earlier model?

Hey, Bobby. Do you know where I can get drive belts for a unimat 3000? I’m using o-rings and they slip a lot. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Rob, can you give me details of the 'rolling metal' shop review as I am thinking about getting a set of these. Kindest regards. Joe.
