"Christopher" is the 42nd episode of the HBO original series The Sopranos and the third episode of the show's fourth season. It's teleplay was written by Michael Imperioli, from a story idea by Imperioli and Maria Laurino. It was directed by Tim Van Patten and originally aired on September 29, 2002.

Silvio wants to take action against Native Americans protesting the Columbus Day parade, believing their actions to be insulting to Italian-Americans. When, without Tony's approval, he, Patsy, and Artie attempt to break up the protest, Little Paulie and several others are injured. Ralphie threatens the protest leader, Professor Del Redclay, that he will make it known that Iron Eyes Cody, a popular Native American figure, was actually an Italian-American. Tony unsuccessfully appeals to Assemblyman Ron Zellman and to an Indian chief to convince Redclay to cancel the protest. The chief invites Tony and his crew to his casino. Both the parade and protest occur without mob intervention, which upsets Silvio. Tony forcefully argues to Silvio that his achievements came through his own abilities, not through his heritage, and scorns the idea that everyone belongs to a victimized group.

Furio was everything they thought they were. Hard worker, family oriented and badass.

I'm Romanian. I know a guy who worked in Italy in the 90s. He saw ads: "Apartment for rent. No Romanians or Southerners"

People here in America love saying "I'm half Italian, I'm 25% German, etc" until they meet somebody who's actually from that country. Then they realize they're actually 100% American.

This was the most he’s ever talked, and it was one of his best scenes

The funny thing is that Italy as a whole country didn't exist back then, Columbus was financed by Spain and most Americans with Italian heritage often came from the south. This scene says more than most people realise.

Furio was the true Italian. He knew the backstory of Columbus locally. The story didn’t mean anything to the Italian-American gangsters and they basically accepted the generalized story of Columbus from an American perspective.

I had the pleasure of meeting Frederico Castelluccio when he was working on an independent film that he wrote, produced, directed, and acted in. He was a really nice, down-to-earth person, a pleasure to be around. While we're at it, James Gandolfini was also a really nice person, God rest his soul. When I met him, I couldn't believe how large he was in person, with hands the size of waffle irons, and easily over 6' tall.

Vast majority of Italian-Americans are from the south including the characters in the show. However, the actor James Gandolfini has ancestry from the North, which is rare for Italian Americans

The best part is they're probably Southern Italians too

The best thing about Furio is that he was a real Italian, so he put into perspective the reality of Italy which is that the entire country is very regional and fragmented according to geography, history, accents and dialects
