Cluj-Napoca is a city in northwestern Romania, it’s the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region. It is a true hidden gem in Europe, as it's home to universities, vibrant nightlife, and landmarks dating to Saxon and Hungarian rule. Cluj-Napoca held the titles of European Youth Capital in 2015, and the European City of Sport in 2018.

Today we’ll show you how to tour Europe on a budget. In Cluj-Napoca, the best city in Romania, we visited St. Michael’s Church, the Statue of Matthias Corvinus, the Romanian National Opera, and spent time in the beautiful Central Park!

Traveling Transylvania in 2022, there is so much to offer. A local recommended we try local Romanian cuisine from the restaurant Vărzărie. The food was fantastic and very affordable! The food in the Balkans and Romania is very affordable. We each ordered our own dish and our entire meal at Vărzărie cost a total of $16, which makes Transylvania and all of Romania a great option if you are traveling Europe on a budget.

If you have time and want an adventure we highly recommend checking out the town of Cluj-Napoca, the best city in Romania. Cluj-Napoca is lovely and it’s a great value for money in Europe in 2022!

Is it Central Europe, Eastern Europe or the Balkans? A bit of all, but I would personally avoid any labeling. It is Europe, with a Romanian and, speaking of Cluj, a Hungarian touch.

Actually the Bucharest orthodox cathedral is the tallest orthodox one in the world,
Followed then by the Timisoara Cathedral, then the St. michael Church is the 4th tallest.
