I spent three months in Romania as an American woman alone and had zero issues. One of the safest areas I’ve been in. I loved it and can’t wait to go back. Te ubesic Romania, te pup.

Living in Romania for 16 years from Holland, and indeed the women can walk down the street here without being harassed. It's safe and beautiful here for everyone. Here they protect their women and children, Holland and other Western countries can learn from that.

I lived in Romania for 3 years with my husband and three young children and we loved it. Extremely safe country. I never locked my car doors, let my kids play outside riding bikes with friends until Street lights came on. Romanian people love all children and are never annoyed with them in public. It was like suburban America in the 80s.

We Romanians are NOT Racist, we are just curious, we don't see black people every day so for us is something exotic! and i can ASSURE you, as a foreigner you will be always treated like a king in Romania and everyone will help you with everything you need!

I was born and raised in Romania. He is right. At the age of 19 we were going clubbing, partying, in the middle of the night from one place to another in Cluj. Never a thing happened. Young people were having fun, we were drunk, singing sometimes, and noone bothered.

As a Romanian i have to say Romanians are obsessed with foreigners coming to Romania and enjoyingour culture, many people like when you adapt to our culture, when you try to fit in, they absolutely love that.
And you as a foreigner can be 100% called a Romanian we have a show host "Cabral Ibacka" even though his skin colour is black everyone thinks of him as a Romanian, he was born in Romania and he acts 100% Romanian.

As a mixed race man (Cameroon and Switzerland) I can confirm that Romanians are very rarely racist. I lived in Switzerland for 34 years and now live in Romania for a year. Of course I stand out more here, since blacks are rare. However, I have not had a single negative experience in this regard. People are curious but very respectful in Romania.

I'm not Romanian. My wife and her family are. From Transylvanian to Saxon. There is no one ethnicity in Romania. Romanians are a rich and mixed culture. I'm neither ethically or "visibly" European (Persian to be exact) and I absolutely enjoy every second with them since 7 years. Romanians might be traditional, but they are honest hard working and family loyal people. Salut Romanians! Hopefully I get to buy a house somewhere along the black sea! Absolutely love these people and the country

Romanians are not racist. We are just very traditional when it comes to family values, religion, and much more. Like we believe in gender roles as they were assigned in nature, we respect the LGBTQ community but we don't make a big deal out of it like in the west and most certainly we don't use it as a marketing strategy to gain money out of the more gullible ones. We're as normal as it can get, and yes we're poorer than many countries in Europe, but you should check our houses and our cars especially in the north part of the country. People gain money, it's what the average income looks like that statistically makes foreigners raise their eyebrows. And we have some of the highest taxes in Europe and yet we manage to survive quite decently. Not to brag but we have amazing landscapes and we are overall very hospitable people. So no, we're not weird, we're just valuing human values that have long disappeared in other parts of the world.

He is 100% talking the truth. I just love Romania for its people and culture. In over 25 years of visiting my family there, I have never felt unsafe, nor did my girlfriend. I've driven through the whole country and visited popular cities, smaller cities, random villages and talked to so many people. It's a really unique feeling to be there if you start to interact with people and enjoy the chilled vibe on the streets (Bucharest is not the best example for all of this of course).

I would like to detail a bit the racism discussion.
There are practically no black people in Romania. I saw one when I was like 25 year old or so, maybe because I grew up in a medium town.
The Romanians can be seen as racist in the sense that a mixed marriage would be hard to digest so to say. We are not that far yet.
Other than this, I cannot imagine a black person to be hunted down on the street or to be a victim of violence or whatever else might be there. No way.

Romania is a beautiful country, worth visiting, worth experiencing various trips and adventures here.
They are empty like everywhere else, but there are also many quiet areas, full of energy and beautiful people.

His singular presence in Bucharest probably spiked the annual crime rate by at least 17%.

The only actual problem with romania is the corruption of the politics. It deflects all the money Romania earns from its activities and from other EU countries to some rich mafioso's pockets. If not, I truly believe the country could develop very nicely and become a true developed state.
