i dont understand the people who say Alicent is just bitter and jealous of Rhaenery. Partially she is but it's not unfunded, she was molded and told to behave a certain way while Rhaenyra had more freedom. Then you add that layer of manipulation by Otto (which is not fully unfunded, Rhaenyra wouldnt hurt her half siblings but people would do it for her, especially Daemon), then on top of that the fact that Viserys made the mistake of never showing any love to his other kids, which left Alicent feeling overprotective of them. Basically Alicent fucks up her kids and starts a war because of a whole onion worth of layers that led to her being fucked up. A class acting and character building imo

People are asking why Alicent got so mad here but it makes sense to me.

Queen Alicent believed that Rhaenyra was a virgin and she even said she was one by saying that she was a maiden. But she was lied to and because of that lie, it got her father fired as hand. Otto was an ambitious manipulator but he was the only person who supported Alicent and her children when he was hand. You can argue that he caused his own temporary banishment but Rhaenyra wasn’t innocent either, as it was her who convinced King Viserys to fire Otto in the first place, making a power move against Alicent’s family.

Which is why when Alicent heard it from Criston, she wasn’t just upset that Rhaenyra lied to her, she was also upset that now she realizes that her father was right about her: She played a part in his banishment and is now deemed untrustworthy and can now kill Alicent’s children to secure her claim next. Alicent just thinks her and her kids are in danger since Rhaenyra kinda made a power play against her father. What makes you think she wouldn’t do the same against her half-siblings too?
