Pupils in England were the most disadvantaged, with the share of exams graded A or above down by 9% compared to 2022. Students in Wales saw a 7% drop in top grades, while Northern Ireland saw a decrease of 6%.

Ofqual's chief regulator Dr Jo Saxton told Sky News pupils up and down the country have been treated "fairly" and "there have always been differences between regions".

Ofqual: We've had a look at what we've done, and decided we didn't do anything wrong, and the students will just have to suck it up, like the suckers we consider them to be.

Equal doesn’t mean equity. That’s important

Ive just done an access to he course, absolut shambles, unorganised no support, constantly ask for help, get ignored, had a 6 hour knee surgery, got told to stop making excuses, even had a tutor go a wall in November and the college didn’t realise till march! its the colleges and tutors failing students, in my experience

I did a GCSE maths course at Newcastle College during covid. The course was a complete shambles. We ended up with three different teachers and marks from online tests which were taken near the start of the course were discarded at the last moment. Instead we were all crowded into a classroom for tests which I did very well in, all except one. Needless to say I did not receive the mark that I needed. I now intend to bypass Newcastle College and take my GCSE exam as a private entrant.

0:57 it’s an easy question to answer. It’s dependent upon the quality of the local education and wether they’re motivated or not etc.

Very few students cross borders to go to university? When I did my degree in Cardiff (Wales) I only met a handful of welsh students! The vast majority where English.

Fairly? Surely the answers are either right or wrong?

From my Grandson’s experience 4 years ago, I have to disagree. He along with his class mates, wasn’t at all treated fairly. The class tutor innocently placed a poster on the class wall. The poster was helpful guidance to an element of the course my grandson was taking. During his studies, examiners attended the 6th Form school for an inspection. They saw this poster and IMMEDIATELY, told the college principle that all students in that subject would not be marked on their entire course work, because of the presence of the poster. I don’t know the details of the information in the poster but it lead to the resignation of the course tutor and my grandson wasting 2 years of his life. This was clearly an innocent error of judgment by the tutor and causing my grandson to loose his place at University on his preferred subject. So, I do not have any confidence in the examiners regime.

I wouldn't want them to do history. They would get a F-. trying to rewrite history thinking covid doesn't exist.

It’s been a well known fact northerns are a bit slow. That’s why we need to reopen some form of industry like the coal mines and give those nonkeys some use or they’ll run around chucking pukka pies at people
