Great advice. I have been running in barefoot shoes and zero drop shoes from Altra like the lone peaks and I picked up tendonpathy. I did exactly what you recommend with a mixture of heel to toe drop heights in my running and its really helped it.

Excellent advice as always for insertion Achilles. Point is running takes time until Achilles is cured so can think of it later

I have Achilles pain on my right foot but i found the New Balance 878 to be the perfect and most comfortable pair of sneaker/running shoes of all. I can walk around the city and stand all day with minimal to no pain at all. I highly recommend it.

The higher heel drop helpes me a lot! I'm using brooks adreneline gts. I was using an 8mm and having archiles pain.

I got Achilles tendinitis from low-drop shoes, but after switching back to New Balance 990s, it’s improving. Yes, they’re expensive!

What effect does a plated shoe vs non-plated have on achilles load? I was running exclusively in a plated shoe (saucony endorphin pro) for a few months when my overuse caused achilles tendinopathy- could the shoes have contributed to the injury development? Thanks!

I need help. I'm in my early 40's for context. I'm not sure what's going on with me. For the last 20 years I ran casually on thick Nike Air Max. About 5 years ago I started running much more often and I started to develop knee pain. I had my foot scanned at a store and they gave me New Balance 880 V13, which I guess is a neutral shoe. I trained hard in these shoes. Crossfit for an hour, then lifting for an hour, then a 2.5 mile run. 5 days/week. It was brilliant. I got a 6 pack and looked incredible. Then achilles pain started. So I stopped running until it went away. Lost my 6 pack. Totally depressed about that. So now, when I run my lower calves lock up after 1.5 miles. Every time. Literally 1.5 miles. And my achilles doesn't hurt when I run, but it hurts later that night, especially when I'm trying to sleep. I'm thinking about buying a thicker shoe, like the ASICS GLIDERIDE. But I don't know if shoes will actually help.TMI here but it's really hard to sleep and exhaust myself without running, it's been really difficult

I was walking in boots I had worn many times before. Could not understand why I got mid range tendonitis in my right calf until I did more research and discovered it was probably due to me getting older and my calf muscles getting weaker. I am currently still healing but also trying to find ways to strengthen my calves and all leg muscles for future walks.

Do you have any examples of shoes which are high heel/firmer for someone with mid-portion tendinopathy?

Interesting, i would've thought softer shoes would be more suitable. What's the logic with firmer shoes working better?

The question is does the hoka bondi rub the tendon? Because high-top shoes from asics like cumulus, gt 12, or hoka clifford rubbed my tendon and created friction between the tendon and the edge of the shoe what shoes do you recommend? I noticed that shoes with harder soles on the heel do not create friction on the tendon, those with soft soles on the heel create friction on the tendon, the pain started when I was looking for wide shoes and I found something like this only in runnings schop shoes to choose from, but they rub the tendon due to the sole that is soft on the heels, what shoes do to choose ? I don't run, I only need it for walking

I guess a similar principle applies for trail shoes? Also would I be right in saying that when tackling a hill the position of your foot going uphill kind of reduces the protection effect of the heal stack? I hadn’t done any hill or speed work since early in the year due to my problem then thought I was ready and tried a bit the other day and it’s a bit angry again (lump swelled up again) this also happens if I run with my trail shoes

I've been wearing a 12mm drop shoe for several years. I just found an athletic shoe that I really like, roomy and comfortable and puts no pressure on the back of my heel. But what worries me is the heel drop is on 4mm. I have Insertional AT. Would you advise against a 4mm shoe with IAT? Thanks.

What about shoes to simply walk for insertion Achilles tendonpathy? I'm about 6-7 weeks into this injury and it's gotten better but I still have very bad calf cramps when I walk around the house with my soft Adidas shoes. 😢
