OnePlus Nord Review | Why spend more?

Review of the OnePlus Nord, one of the best value mid-range smartphones of 2020 boasting a quad lens camera, slick PubG Mobile performance and 5G support. All for under £400. I've been testing out the OnePlus Nord as my full-time phone and here's all you need to know, including how it stacks up to the Moto G 5G Plus, Realme X50 and other recent rivals.

Costing hundreds less than the OnePlus 8 flagship, this great value handset still serves up a premium experience. Even if you're an avid gamer, titles like PubG and Call of Duty can play perfectly here thanks to the Snapdragon 765G chipset. Battery life isn't quite as strong vs some competitors, but can generally see you through an intensive day.

That quad camera uses a 48MP primary lens with Sony's IMX586 sensor and while not infallible, this does a decent job with photo quality in good conditions. You also have a dual selfie cam setup on the Nord, with an Ultra-Wide option.

Saving cash with this device doesn't deprive you of the full OxygenOS experience either, complete with guaranteed updates for two years. For these reasons, I'm a fan of the OnePlus Nord and it definitely ranks among the best smartphones under £400 right now. Check out my unboxing and comparisons for more info.

I've had a Nord for a few months now (since November, I think), and this review has been really accurate so far. I bought this phone to replace a 6-year-old iPhone 6 with water damage, so pretty much anything would have been an improvement, but I really do like the Nord. It runs smoothly (I've had 5 or so crashes so far), it's *super* durable (I'm a very clumsy person), and it feels really sleek. The camera is not great (it gets really grainy when you zoom in, for example) but I'm not really a photo-taker in general, so the camera quality is always at the bottom of my list. There are a few small glitches that I haven't been able to correct so far. It's nothing fancy by 2022 standards, but compared to my old phone, it's knocked it out of the park for 400eur.

I really enjoyed this video. So many of the reviews of this phone have for some reason seemed to concentrate on how good the cameras are, when in reality the depth they go into is only really interesting to content creators where the camera is of primary importance.


Most people aren't content creators but reviewers only seem to review phones for themselves and not the general public.
