You don't hear much about the risks that come with success. One of them is that the more successful you get, the harder it becomes to impress people. To hear OnePlus tell it, that’s part of the reason it named its newest smartphone (the OnePlus Nord) after the concept of “true north” – because over the past seven years, the company has gradually strayed from its original mission of selling great smartphones at an accessible price … and now it wants to “return to its roots.”

That's a marketing narrative custom-formulated for folks like me, desperate to find an exciting angle on yet another static slab of a smartphone. And to be fair: the OnePlus Nord is an excellent phone, at an opening price we haven’t seen from OnePlus since 2018. I don't understand why everyone is saying OnePlus is going back to it's roots, no they aren't. If they were going back to their roots they would've launched a "flagship" device in 399-550$ range just like they used to do till oneplus 6. I'm sorry to say but they're just yet another company who has 800-1000$ flagship and a midrange device (nord) to cater to people who really wanted a OnePlus at an affordable price.
