One of my rules when buying bargains is the 3 outfit rule. Whatever I buy has to work in at least 3 outfits. Actually I use the 3 outfit rule for all my clothing purchases. 😄

I totally agree with you Erin, I am 67, but I do not dress like a 67 year old woman, because I do not feel li, like, a 67 year old woman

Erin, I love you and your channel. At 44, after a lupus diagnosis and putting on considerable weight with medication, I hope everyone on here can learn love their body where it is at and not yearn for thinner years. You, and every woman over 40 watching this, have so much more to give the world than fitting into size 26 jeans. ♥️

❤️❤️❤️I totally agree with you Erin, that the older I get the more ballsy I am. 😉👌🏻💕 If I want to wear trends, I do. If I want to look classy, I do. I see some bloggers say, you have to find your style. I’m like…. Why? Why do I have to find my style? I like a lot of things. I don’t have anything in particular I must follow. I just got to my mid forties and I love it. My three kids love my styling ideas, too. A lot of times we share clothes as well. We love it! 😁😁😁💕

I loved this. My New Years resolution at 56 was to stop the sweats and get dressed in something lovely everyday. I feel fabulous. As we age as women we can be more fabulous and more confident if we stop allowing social media and marketing to tell us how we should look and be as we age. I teach women everyday it isn’t to late to be your best. This was wonderful.
Blessings 🍑🙌🏻🧡Lisa

I love you. Thank the Lord I've found you as a 40 something woman! Things I've thought to do but are not super confident with, you've given me confidence for. Rules I live by, you've reaffirmed my approach for. And generally I feel so much more confident in my body thanks to your videos so thank you. You're amazing 🙏🏻

Great set of rules to follow and I agree with every one! Some years ago I lost 30 lbs, gained back almost 15, but managed to lose 5. I've been struggling to get rid of the last 10 and get back to where I was but I'm so tired of being hung up on numbers! I exercise and eat healthy most of the time, so I constantly have to remind myself that I'm fit and strong and to just accept my body for where its at. Watching your videos helps give me that confidence! Thank you!

I am 46, and I wear what makes me happy and feels comfortable 😊 I have been working from home for 10 years and I literally get dressed up to go grocery shopping just so I can look nice because I work in sweat pants all day.

I so appreciate your channel, Erin! I am 63 and I have found with added years comes more attitude that I’m going to wear what pleases me. As America continues its decent into more casual, aka slouchy, I have maintained my classic style and appreciate it more than ever. It’s my form of ‘rebellion’ - ha! I like dressing up and will continue to do so. It makes me feel good. As for the numbers, with vanity sizing that started so many years ago to feed our egos, it’s clear that numbers haven’t really meant anything in a long time anyway. It’s good to know your inch measurements for an accurate fit if you buy things on line, but no, the numbers in my closet go from 2 to 10 and they all fit!

Thank you for the "no workout clothes in public" challenge. It drives me nuts. I believe that is exactly what our country needs right now.

"Wear what you want" has been like an epiphany to me lately. I always bought clothes that I wanted to wear but never actually wore them. I was saving them for the "right" occasion, and what I mean by that is I was taking in to account what everyone else would be wearing around me so that I fit into whatever group I was going to be with. It dawned on me a couple of months ago that by letting the crowd dictate what I was wearing I was allowing strangers/coworkers/family members, etc., to dress me to the point that I was spending my life not feeling like myself. Kind of like getting dressed in someone else's closet and then feeling uncomfortable and resentful about it. I don't know why I didn't make those connections before but once I realized what I was doing it was easy to stop and dress only for myself. I can't overstate how much better I feel.

This was really great Erin. I loved 3 and 5 especially. I’ve been trying to sit on potential purchases a little bit longer to see if it’s something I need or an impulse buy. I think this is something critical especially with the bargain bin. You think, “Oh if I don’t get it now it’ll sell out and then I’ll miss it!” Just giving myself an hour or so to think about it can help me determine whether I need it or not. And it’s not even limited to clothes. It’s been saving me $$.
And I thought 5 was so important. Going outside of your comfort zone just a little and wearing what you want can definitely make life more enjoyable. I bought a tulle skirt and have already worn it once. I thought it was only for something special, but it’s really fun. Even to the grocery store, makes life a little more lighthearted. Thanks again for your inspiration. BTW I loved the photos you shared, so beautiful!

Awesome video! Best place to get to as a woman is embracing and dressing for the body you have and feeling wonderful in your clothes because they actually fit properly....because you bought the correct size, fit and style for YOU! That alone will make you feel better about yourself. Not to be misconstrued with giving up fitness and nutrition goals. I've been less fit, more fit or really fit (but not completely unfit) and I full on recommend learning to accept and love all of those versions of yourself younger than I did and dressing for them as required. You'll waste less time disliking your body and no money can ever buy that feeling! Add to this the classy strategic showing of skin, bargain beware and wear what you love, this video nails it Erin!

It’s true, we have to follow our instincts (whether with style or anything really), and then be surprised and even delighted where they lead… I bought one gorgeous dress having no idea where I would wear it except maybe to play a concert here or there. To my delight and surprise, it not only inspired a photo & video shoot, But that one shoot made its way onto TWO of my album covers, and even an official music video!

I completely agree, Erin! Wear what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful regardless of age. I never liked that no white after Labor Day rule, especially here in southern California when it's often 85 in November!

You’re so right about not focusing on the number but focus on the fit. I changed sizes and I look better when I wear what fits and it’s not like anyone asks me what size I am. I need to accept it and rock it.

You are queen, you are so right I pushed myself and bought this sleeveless white dress to wear to my granddaughters dance performance and it have a pull tie belt I never ever even think about buying let alone getting it to wear, but listening to you lately have me thinking and seeing myself differently 😉.
and it's definitely making me feel better.

I love this! I recently lost a LOT of weight and have been using your advice to rebuild my wardrobe. I have literally had to replace everything in my closet (including shoes). Talk about a good excuse for a style reboot! (But also very overwhelming trying to start from nothing and build a closet without going broke😖) Some advice I would like to share-if someone is struggling with weight and feeling terrible like I was, finding a doctor that will listen is critical. I finally found a doctor willing to test me for an autoimmune disease, and getting the right diagnosis and treatment has changed my life.

On the style rules: I can’t emphasize enough how important fit really is. In the process of rebuilding my closet, I have found brand sizes varying wildly. I am anything from an x-small petite/4P to a medium petite/10P depending on the brand all in the same day of trying on clothes. Bra sizes too-brands really vary a LOT, so really assessing how they fit regardless of what size the tag says is critical. If it doesn’t fit right, I don’t buy it. And on the bargain front, it is so true! I love a clearance sale, but if I wouldn’t pay full price for it, I don’t buy it. I look at the sales to find bargains on things I want but can’t stretch the budget to buy at full price.

1 style “rule” I live by: the right undergarments for the outfit are critical. Bad undergarments can ruin the nicest clothes, and the right ones can make a t-start and jeans look perfect.
