I resell vintage clothes and just started adding vodka into my steamer when I steam out wrinkles... works great because it penetrates the fibers

I just bought a beautiful deep brown leather jacket on eBay. They used a horrible picture so I was the only bidder.. I got a jacket for $17 because of that terrible picture, and nine dollar shipping. So for $26 I expected to get this three-quarter length leather coat with a removable fur collar.. what I got, was one of the softest leather coats I ever felt. Deep, rich, brown color, no damage, metal zippers all worked, none of the pockets were blown out, and when I searched the two zip covered inside pockets., find $45 in cash..
The jacket does have a bit of a musty smell, not like, mold, or mildew, definitely not cigarettes or body oil or perspiration, I don’t know what it is. I’m going to let the coat hang outside in the sun on a wide, leather jacket, hanger, and I’m going to spray the quilted lining that does not zip out and the removable fake fur collar with vodka and see if that works
I like the tip of adding essential oils. I have known for years that you can mix 90% warm water with 10% lemon juice to remove mildew from leather. It works in a split second removing mildew. And you mentioned using lemon oil mixed with the vodka. I think I will try that also. Thank you.

Can’t the vodka be replaced with isopropyl alcohol?

Why not use plain ethyl alcohol it’s much cheaper.

Will spraying vodka on leather damage it? I want to spray the lining of a purse I thrifted but the areas with zippers have leather and I’m afraid to ruin them.

Would this work on doggy smells on rugs?

Watching this after I had burn stains left on my clothing from spraying vodka in my closet. I didn't use a misting spray bottle, and I think vodka can burn and leave stains on certain fabrics. Some polyester, rayon, cotton/ silk, tencel/lyocell got burned and stained. Will have to dye them a darker color now 😞 Wish I never followed this tip (from someone else).
Wouldn't essential oils be too strong on the clothes? I know you should not apply them directly to skin, so I am wondering about clothes.

Is lemon flavored vodka fine to use? I don’t have any straight vodka at the moment
